hello guys and gals me mudahar not every
day we get to take a massive W and talk
about something actually awesome now a
couple days ago I made a video where I
talked about wuntu and I made a pretty
uh incorrect statement I said that my
people are 1% of the Entire Computer
market share we're actually 4% okay yeah
ladies and gentlemen Linux users are
like vegans they'll tell you exactly uh
how exactly what they do I use Arch by
the way now if you're looking at this
graph here ladies and gentlemen that
number 4% you might be like waa 4%
that's not a lot muda of everyone in the
entire world using their computer this
number is a actual record breaker and
that number could be 6.2% if you
included the chromy boys on top of it
too now you can add the
0.01% of free BSD people and there is
also 6.11% unknown but I'm going to
stick with the facts here 4% of the
desktop world now is switched to l Unix
okay and if you're a Mac User you'd be
surprised to know that 21% dropped all
the way down to
16% uh why is that the case I guess cuz
I don't know I feel like Mac hardware is
changing so much these days that uh now
you need to have their own special
silicon in order to use the newest stuff
maybe that's the case and people are
just repurposing old machines for Linux
or something else maybe running old
windows on it who knows now Windows is
72% of the market share and obviously I
have made a pretty concentrated effort
to tell people that I don't use Windows
and it's not out of any reason for you
know just being counterculture a while
ago I made a video where I talked about
how I finally built my dream computer I
built a dream PC I built it with
multiple graphics cards the processor
that I wanted which had an ungodly
amount of threads and over 128 GB of
memory the reason why I wanted a
computer that was this Overkill was
because I do a lot of virtual machines I
like to play around with a lot of
intricate cool setups I think when you
build your own computer it's also fun to
build and customize the software that
goes into your system as well and if you
can do it right and you have the
knowledge to it then you might as well
make the best no compromise system
imaginable this computer that I have
over here runs Linux Windows and Mac
virtual machines all at the same time if
I ever need to dabble in everything I
don't have to choose between what I boot
into I use all of them at the same
godamn time now virtual machines are a
complicated mess and you know over the
last couple years in regards to certain
games as anti-cheats uh using virtual
machines has become in a way a little
bit more of a hassle than it actually is
worth but if you're somebody that likes
to keep a lot of these proprietary
operating systems pretty much locked
into their own jail then these are the
only options you have now it's not that
I don't use Windows this computer back
here runs Windows 11 all right and it
has run Windows 11 for ever since I
bought it the reason I use that computer
is for one reason only Rainbow Six Siege
it's a game that I've just gotten back
into playing and to basically not
compromise on having my host computer
done I ended up having to pick up a
computer on sale just so I could play
Rainbow Six Siege and keep all of the
anti-cheats and the kernel level
processes all the way relegated to one
system that's on its own cluster on the
network and that's just because I don't
trust windows it's the same reason I
don't trust Mac and I don't trust a lot
of proprietary software because I can't
really understand what it's doing and
also I don't really feel comfortable
with how much recent stuff has been put
into Microsoft's operating systems in
regards to artificial intelligence
Telemetry tracking that at this moment
in time the reason I use Linux primarily
is because it is it I literally know
every single thing that's running on it
at any given moment using something
known as Arch Linux I literally start
from a command line yes something that
basic to having an actual usable setup
and that's something that takes a little
bit of time to get to get right to get
to master but once you've done it it's
kind of like watching woodworking videos
or like those restoration videos what
looks like a long complicated drawn out
process leads to some pretty fruitful
rewards depending on who you're asking
and if you're asking me yeah I enjoy
Linux for that reason now it's one of
the things that I like many others in my
Camp wish that we all could agree with
uh is that Linux is not an easy system
to be using it never was easy back in
the day like operating systems they all
work a little bit differently okay if
you're a Mac User you probably find [ __ ]
in Windows annoying if you're a Windows
user vice versa if you're a Linux person
you probably know of one thing the
command line okay ladies and gentlemen
you want to scare somebody uh away from
Linux you fire up this tool right over
here and you let them write a few lines
okay they'll freak out looking at this
they'll be like what is this Arcane
trick trickery what are we back in the
MS Doss days and in reality it's not
even that case if you know what you're
doing you can do like a million tasks in
one line underneath this okay it's
actually a heart and soul of how to use
Linux right here but I get it's not for
everyone what people really enjoy is
obviously buying a computer from the
store plugging it into the wall
connecting your monitors keyboards and
mouses and basically using it right out
of the box plug and playay I think one
of the reasons Microsoft I mean it's not
one of the reasons it is the reason
Windows is so successful is because it
really started during the beginning of
the home computer like world you know
back then you go to the store you buy a
computer and chances are it came with a
Windows OEM installation so you bought a
Windows XP computer back in the day you
had Windows without really having a
choice in the matter right now even to
this day when people go out and buy
gaming computers even if it's a
pre-built gaming computer from a store
online most people probably pay a little
bit extra to get Windows pre-installed
onto it or that's all they know they
have a little installation disc
somewhere an installation key and you
just get Windows up and running it's
literally the operating system that
everyone has built in and that's why
it's so entrenched and the reason why
Windows is so successful is all of the
hardware you buy natively Works
underneath it because when you have 70%
of people using your operating system
there's a pretty good [ __ ] chance
that all of the hardware all of the soft
software is designed to first and
foremost support 72% of the PC market
out there nobody is building video games
for 4% of the market share the reason
why that number is climbing is thank God
to cool devices like the actual steam
deck right over here ladies and
gentlemen the steam deck is about as
great of a product as our new skin care
what up ladies and gentlemen yeah I
figured I might as well plug this one
right over here one pump a day gets rid
of all those evil skin care 50,000
products you got to buy it's simple as a
gamer as somebody who does [ __ ] every
single day all right I got to take care
of things I got a busy schedule I only
got one minute all I got to do is apply
one pump into my hand lather over my
face apply properly of course and Bam
those regiments are secured faster than
this actual read that I had for my own
company but anyways ladies and gentlemen
all of the Shameless plugging aside one
of the reasons with Linux is obviously
the steam deck has finally come in and
made a household name for itself inside
you know people who like handheld gaming
computers and one of the important
things about it is it chips with an Arch
Linux distribution actually
pre-installed so again people buying
this device really have no choice in the
matter you see valve has been doing
Linux stuff for longer than the steam
deck remember those original steam boxes
they released Steam OS which was like a
Debian based install for back in the day
and since then they've been kind of
retooling it and they found out that
ladies and gentlemen in order to
actually get the games running they
can't just expect developers and
Publishers to make Linux versions of
games it's never going to happen 4% of
the market does not warrant Millions
upon millions of dollars of software
development to port to an operating
system that again only 4% of people use
so thankfully with tools like steam
proton or just proton in general we're
able to actually play Windows versions
of games underneath Linux through a
compatibility layer the footage that
seeing right now is footage from Persona
3 reload a game that I've kind of been
chewing through as the sort of uh weeks
have gone by and it's wild to say that
day one this game runs underneath Linux
it's as simple as opening up your actual
steam application and just going to
Persona and hitting play and lo and
behold like magic it just works
underneath an operating system that it
was never actually designed for now the
reason why Linux is able to do this
unlike things like mac for instance is
because of a lot of Graphics libraries
like Vulcan which is where they're
translating directex to a different
entire Graphics API in real time all
right impressive actual piece of
software engineering aside this is the
kind of tools that we're basically using
now even other applications like Discord
and basically everything popular
actually has a Linux Port associated
with it too so for a lot of people that
jump into the situation wondering damn
muda how do I switch the easiest way to
switch is download something known as
Linux Mint it's like the easiest
distribution for anybody a goddamn
monkey could figure out that
distribution installing that going to
the actual stores and installing Discord
steam whatever application you wanted
literally gets you into almost a similar
Camp as straight up windows-based Gamers
anyways now the only issue with this
system the only problem the only thing
holding people back are some rather
specific programs programs like Adobe
Premiere now if you use any video
editing software uh commercial stuff you
probably don't have a Linux equivalent
there's some equivalents like Da Vinci
resolve but generally when you're
looking at actual equivalents like uh
Premiere Pro Adobe for this case then uh
yeah you actually don't have them
running underneath Linux whatsoever it's
just that for programs that complicated
uh there really isn't an easy way to
translate their calls on the fly but
even for games that work perfectly fine
underneath Linux but have a actual
problem with things like anti-cheats
that's the last stage right here I'm
going to show you something insane right
now now this is a site known as are we
anticheat yet.com and if you look at
this website I'm going to show you right
now 154 games are supported 47% of the
games quoted in this list are supported
12% run 1% are planned to run and 34%
are broken now multiplayer games are a
huge part of the gaming industry you
know people that play War Zone fortnite
Rainbow 6 Siege like me you'll probably
find out godamn muda all right what
about us all right it's fine if all you
do is play Persona and like Elden ring
or something single player even Elden
ring has issues but we'll get to that uh
games often are hit and misses for
instance Halo Master Chief Collection
runs perfectly fine using easy anti-che
that's what the Panda's there for games
like fortnite that also use Easy antiche
and battle eye apparently are denied why
that's because Tim Sweeney [ __ ] hates
valve all right I'm pretty sure that's
the conspiracy right there fortnite
could be running underneath Clin flying
Le but it just can't because the actual
development or the publisher just does
not care for instance games like Ark
survival evolved run with battley
supported underneath Linux from what
I've heard and talked about it's as
simple as flipping a switch at this
point but you know what's even funnier
Rainbow Six Siege also uses the same
actual anti-che alongside something
known as fairfight completely [ __ ]
broken all right just does not work and
it's funny because Rainbow Six Siege the
graphics work perfectly the game
actually runs it's just you can do
everything but play the multiplayer and
it's funny because for the longest time
there's been an actual debate on their
entire Forum right unable to play online
on the steam deck and of course you can
see that 229 people have this issue
which clearly that's why Ubisoft will
not even think of spending the time
that's minimal players compared to
whatever matters but of course the
severity is critical because yeah you
can't play and it's funny because the
evidence people mentioned is literally
my videos about virtual machines where I
constantly talk about this topic and to
understand it's one of the things that
I'm not comfortable that's why I bought
a separate system because even with
virtual machines violating the terms of
service for this game and getting my
account banned which has years of my
gaming history attached to it is not
something I think is absolutely worth it
at all but ladies and gentlemen this is
something that's been evolving and
growing over time but yeah 4% of the
market share is now Linux and is it year
of the Lin Linux desktop probably not
but that number climbing month after
month year after year is absolutely an
interesting thing to see because ladies
and gentlemen this number was less than
a percent I want to say a couple years
ago are we ever going to get to a point
where this number is going to be higher
than Windows maybe but probably not but
at the end of the day actually having
competition is what matters look Windows
is great if you want to get things up
and running but I don't think having
just one player running the underlying
operating systems of our desktop
computer stuff we build freely by the
way some that we build ourselves with
our own two hands it's never okay to
just have one player running it now
again if you're somebody that ever has
interest switching over uh sometime next
week I can finally solidify My ultimate
Linux video and I feel like as as some
of you guys really enjoy the wuntu stuff
I think like covering Linux content is
something that I kind of want to do at
least a little bit for the next week uh
next two weeks just so I can have a
couple videos out there that can hang
out on the internet forever as guides
for people that want to start switching
over because honestly I feel like for
people thinking about switching it's
just too hard and in reality even the
community doesn't do a good enough job
of helping people switch over and I
think I can at least provide some
educational material you know at least
at least at least without you know
completely [ __ ] on anyone wanting to
switch over give some actual logical
practical experience that number can get
higher we got to pump those numbers up
son but that said ladies and gentlemen
this is me mudahar and yeah you know
this footage of Rainbow Six siege that
you were seing at any point during this
entire video I have to say for Eula
legal reasons was done entirely
underneath a Windows bare metal system
never would I break the rules that
Ubisoft sets that would just be Haram
but yeah I am out
