Transcripts
hey
guys the iPad Pro is $1,000
now
$1000 for an iPad and please whatever
you do do not buy a 13in with 2 tab of
storage and nanotexture glass and
cellular cuz it's going to be
$2600 give me
strength what is happening that's that's
more than most people's rent so look
folks this Apple event was build at a
different kind of Apple event and I
guess by a different kind they meant it
was earlier and it was short and this
event had a Monumental challenge it had
to save the iPad but unfortunately I
don't really think that my opinion of
the iPad has changed all that much at
least not yet when WWDC rolls around we
get some new software maybe things will
change but am I the only one who is
underwhelmed let me know in the comments
below Apple has just once again
perfectly managed to update the exact
things that weren't the problem so let's
start with the iPad Air which is I mean
basically this thing is the supply chain
special let's be honest no design
differences from the previous generation
but the iPad Air is now available in a
13-in display size and there were rumors
leading up to this event that that panel
was going to be pulled from the old iPad
Pro which means it would have mini LED
and promotion but uh hate to dash your
dreams that is not the case it's just a
regular liquid retina display with no
promotion and no mini LED but I am glad
that across the board with these new
iPads apple is now cementing their move
to landscape oriented cameras this is
definitely something that bothers me cuz
I use the camera on my iPad Pro quite a
bit hey Aunt Kathy it's great to see you
again yeah no no I'm looking at you but
the camera's way over there but let's be
honest here folks the iPad Pro was the
real star of the show and this thing is
packing some pretty cool technology for
starters it's the thinnest Apple product
ever made at just 5.1 mm thin cuz if
there was one complaint about the old
iPad Pro it was why is it so thick it's
too thick I can't stand it but inside
that thinner design there are a couple
of things that I'm very curious to test
out number one is a new thermal system
they've embedded copper in the back of
the Apple logo for heat dissipation and
they're saying it's about 20% better
which it have better be because we're
now packing the M4 chip this one I'm
pretty excited about but uh I'm a little
nervous as at the same time so the M4
chip is using Apple's second generation
3 NM technology and is now using a
different CPU configuration for the
first time we now have two additional
efficiency cores for a 10 Core Design
which apple is claiming is 50% faster
than the M2 these freaking Rascals man
they always do this they're replacing an
M2 iPad Pro so all of the M4 comparison
are to the M2 not the M3 and just to
make things extra fun when the M3 chip
came out Apple was comparing that to the
M1 chip and they said that the
performance cores are 15% faster than
the m2's performance cores with the
efficiency cores being 30% faster but
nowhere did they say the overall chip
speed was a certain percent faster than
M2 so the M4 is comparing to M2 but the
M3 they really just don't want to
compare each chip to the one that
directly preceded it they keep changing
the metrics dude oh and by the way they
totally buried the fact that if you get
the base spec iPads you get a Bend CPU
and you get less Ram if you want the
full fat M4 you got to get a one or 2
terby iPad but the thing that I'm most
excited for with this new iPad Pro is
the display they're calling it tandem
OLED and basically my understanding is
this is a dual layer OLED display that
allows the thing to get super duper
bright so apple is quoting a th000 nits
Peak brightness for both SDR and HDR
content and that definitely goes to
assuage some of the people that were
nervous about the shift to OLED there
were definitely people in my comment
section saying look I want mini LED to
stay because the things can get so dang
bright but this OLED display looks
incredibly impressive and it's something
that I'm hoping we're going to start to
see rolling out on other Apple products
soon please give me an OLED Mac but of
course the actual tablet itself is just
part of the iPad equation and Apple has
made some updates to the apple pencil
and the magic keyboard which I also
think are quite exciting the new magic
keyboard has a function row and a much
larger trackpad now it also has an
aluminum Palm rest it looks a lot more
premium I really like how this thing
looks but it's Apple so you already know
that this thing is very pricey it's
$299 for the 11 in and it's 350 for the
13in but fortunately that's the same
price as the regular magic keyboard so
honestly that kind of surprised me also
surprising was the new Apple pencil Pro
this thing looks really really cool it
has new sensors in the barrel for
detecting if you're squeezing the device
to bring up a new menu and it has a
gyroscope so it can now do roll this is
something that I think a lot of apple
pencil die hards are really going to
like and the new Apple pencil Pro is the
same price as the second generation
apple pencil which means that now there
are four Apple pencils on sale
simultaneously what are we doing what is
what is this this is too much but I
guess that has to be the case because
the new Apple pencil Pro is only
compatible with the new devices that
Apple just announced and that bothers me
because the new Macbook airs have the
same chips as the old iPad Pros so why
could the new Apple pencil not work with
those what is the new technology that
that these iPad Airs have that the old
iPad Pros didn't have also I don't know
if you caught this but these gosh darn
lunatics they went ahead and made the
second generation apple pencil that most
of you probably have with your iPad not
compatible with the new ones the second
gen apple pencil is only compatible with
third fourth fifth and sixth gen not the
new ones that they just announced so if
you already have an apple pencil you
have to buy a new one if you're going to
buy these iPads and that's on top of the
fact that you need to get the new
keyboard too because that's not going to
be compatible either so if you're like
me and you have an M1 iPad Pro I paid
like 1,500 bucks just to get the base
iPad with the magic keyboard and now all
of this has to get sold on eBay if I
want to get the new one because I can't
keep the keyboard I can't keep an apple
pencil if I had one and the new iPad Pro
starts at 1,300 bucks so like look Apple
I know that you want to get people to
upgrade but you're making us buy a
completely new iPad ecosystem and look
I'll even forgive them for making you
get a new magic keyboard I understand it
right it's a different design it's
thinner you're going to need a new
keyboard to fit that shape but why lock
people out of using their existing apple
pencil that is just kind of scummy if
you ask me and by the way it's not going
to help because people are already very
hesitant to upgrade if they have any
recent iPad Pro and now that you're also
making it more expensive and you need a
new keyboard and a new Apple pencil
people are going to be like no I don't
want to do that I mean let's go build
out a cart shall we let's just get a 256
GB standard glass Wi-Fi only 12.9 in
we'll grab a new Apple pencil Pro
perfect and we'll add the magic keyboard
in white that's $1,800
$1,800 for the base model that is the
bare minimum if you want to get the new
13-in iPad Pro with a keyboard and an
apple pencil which you have to buy cuz
you can't keep your old ones that is
crazy and look it would all be fine if
Apple spent a lot of time really
improving the software but they didn't
and I know look WWDC is happening really
really soon we're going to get some new
updates to iPad OS but to be buying this
now for18 $100 before any of that takes
place this is an outrageously priced
machine that is only going to appeal to
the most DieHard of iPad Pro fans I know
in the past I've criticized the iPad
I've made a couple of videos saying that
apple is really messing this up and
people that will defend apple or that
think that I'm wrong will point to the
fact that the iPad Pro is extremely
popular for artists if you use procreate
if you use illustrator or if you're for
some reason a dieh hard iPad Final Cut
user this thing is phenomenal for that
but for normal users who might want an
iPad Pro but not necessarily to do
procreate and drawing there's really not
that much for the rest of us and look I
get it if you want just a basic iPad
that's why the iPad Air exists but the
iPad Pro Used to Be marketed to a much
wider audience
and now with the prices going up with
these really Niche features I feel like
it's just getting more and more Out Of
Reach for most people like I I'm going
to buy one but I'm going to feel guilty
about it CU I'm going to be like well
this this doesn't really feel like it's
for me but notice how that same argument
doesn't really show up elsewhere in
Apple's product lineup like I bought the
iPhone 15 Pro not because I'm going to
be using this to shoot a movie on it but
because I liked the features and I find
it use
but this new iPad Pro if you're not an
artist I don't really see a reason to
buy it now my review for the iPad Pro is
going to come out late cuz I'm going to
be traveling when this thing launches so
definitely bummed about that I have not
missed an apple launch in quite a while
but given that I can't be here on launch
day I'm going to take my time I'm really
going to dive into it as a
nonprofessional iPad artist is there any
reason to buy one of these new iPad Pros
I really hope there is cuz it looks
incredible it really does and I've
always loved the iPad form factor but
man is it hard to justify I'm going to
buy an 11in in fact let's go ahead and
put that cart together I'm going to keep
it nice and simple I'm going to buy the
11in in silver 256 standard glass WiFi I
think I'll probably get the apple pencil
and we'll get a magic keyboard in white
$1,427 that's the cheapest one man
looking at that price tag and this
product I'm really feeling that this
isn't for you going in my head I'm like
am I even allowed to criticize this
device and I don't know maybe I'm not
maybe I'm just the wrong guy to review
this product but I still think that
Apple should be making these devices
feel like it's an improvement for
everyone not just for one specific Niche
I don't know maybe I'm crazy let me know
in the comments below am I crazy am I
crazy for thinking that this iPad looks
honestly pretty mid let me know in the
comments down below and I will see you
guys in the next video
