Transcripts
[GRUNT]
[WHINE]
[STRUGGLING]
YE!
HIGH FIVE!
[DISTANT CRIES OF AN EAGLE]
[ARIN] Did you just poop on me?
[GENTLE GASP]
[DAN] Yeaaaah! [CHRISTINA] You got to poo!
đ” [JAZZY TUNES] đ”
[DAN] Hi~
[DAN WHEEZE LAUGHING AT HIS OVERLY SULTRY HI]
[ARIN] Don't-
[DAN LAUGHING HARDER ABOUT IT]
[A] I'll kill you.
[D] Hello.
And welcome to the 10 Minute Power Hour.
[A] Aw, man-
[D] My name is Da-
My name is Dan
And this is Arin.
And we're going to gently place everything
off the table today.
Don't.
'Cuz we've got a very special guest.
Actually many special guests.
[A] Like SO many guests today. Like-
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
Come on in and join us.
[D] Welcome Critter Christina. [A] Critter Christina!
[D] Yeah! [A] Oh!
[CHRISTINA] I am a handler for Reptacular Animals.
I bring animals out to do parties
and educational presentations for children and adults.
[A] Hell yeah.
[D] I love it. I love it.
[A] I'm way into it.
Because we're going to see some an-
I already see some animals.
[D] This is amazing.
[A] Can we touch them?
[C] Yes! Absolutely!
Can I get my first set of animals?
[OFF-CAMERA] YES! [D] Yes, please.
[C] Alright.
[A] Okay. I want this to be as educational as possible.
Okay? I don't want this to be FUN.
[C] Alright. My first set of animals.
Their names are Chocolate and Chip.
Chocolate and chip are mad. I guess.
[A] OOOOOOOOO [C] They are Hissing Cockroaches.
You guys are welcome to pet them if you would like.
[A] Are they going to like...
[C] They're pretty chill. [D] Ahhh they're fine.
[C] Uhmm- What's interesting about them is that they're Hissing Cockroaches.
[A] Yeah. I've had them all over my face once.
[C] Oh really?
[A] Yeah.
[C] Was it... [D] That's /right/- for the tester!
[A] Yeah. [D] Oh my gosh.
[C] Would you like to put one on your shirt?
[A] On my shirt?
[C] Yeah! [A]Yeah, go ahead.
[C] So you're going to make like a little bed
right here underneath, so that if they fall off-
[A] Okay, like this?
[C] -they land in a little bed. [D] If you flex the peck.
[C] They hiss out of their little,
what I like to call, 'belly buttons'.
[A] oOOoh.
[C] Yeah. So instead of their mouth,
they hiss out of little holes in the sides of their bellies.
[A] Cool.
[D] You know, if you didn't call them cockroaches
I- I wouldn't know.
[C] Yeah. You would think they were kind of like...
beetles or something.
[D] I like them.
[C] Alright. [D] I've been won over.
[C] Alright. Let's get to a slimier animal.
[D] hOoh-kAy.
[D] OOoooooh. He's awesome!
[ARIN REACTING LIKE HE JUST WON MISS AMERICA]
[D] Look at him spilling over the sides.
[C] Yeah!
This is Gumby.
[D] Gumby đ
[c] Gumby is an Australian tree frog.
[A] Is he a peein' or is he just wet?
[C] He's just kind of wet.
[A] Okay.
...He can pee on- If he wants.
He can pee.
[D] Arin, take it easy! [C] He might! He might pee on you!
[D] This isn't about your fetish! It's...
about learning.
They like to sit in the little leaves,
wait for the water to collect on the leaves,
and then drink the water.
[A] Same.
[C] But they don't drink the water the same way that we do.
They drink the water through their skin.
[A] Whoooa! [C] So that's why they're a little sticky and a little slimy.
[D] Ooo, it is sticky.
[A] When you give this boy a bath...
uh-
is he like, he like-
WHARRGARBL
[C] So just be aware he might peeeee
[A] YUS.
[C] -if he gets nervous.
The cutest thing that he does, he loves to eat.
[A] Oh, I love eating, dude. [GUMBY SQUEEKS]
This guy is my-
is my vibe.
Hey, bud, I'm talking about you.
[C] So the way that he eats is he opens his mouth really big,
and then he grabs it with his little sticky pads,
and then he stuffs it in his mouth.
[A] Can we do that?
[C] Uhm- I don't have anything for him to eat, unfortunately.
[C] Unless you guys have mice. [A] I brought Cheetos.
[A] Mice?!
[C] He can eat small pinkies.
He also eats roaches, small roaches.
[A] Oh, we have some roaches.
[D] Yeah, yeah!
[C] Not the big ones.
[D] Sorry, Chip... [C] They're about the same size as him.
[D] It's my time to shine.
[C] Yeah!
And then you just kind of want to
cup your hand underneath so that he--
[D] Feels comfortable?
[C] Yeah, so he doesn't fall off his head. [A] He's so little
[A] He's like, "What are you doing, man?"
[GUMBY, BY SEPHORA]
[C] All right, I'm going to grab him.
[D] Oh, I love him.
[A] He's like, "No, bro!"
Bro, I love their hands!"
[A] Do I have pee on me?
[D] Not many more than usual.
[A] Aside from the daily pee, they put on me.
Is there additional pee on me?
[D] I've never--
I like birds from a distance.
I've never gotten the hang of them.
I don't know how to interact with them in-
in person.
[C] They're very special creatures because
they're very particular.
They have such a personality.
Each one has a very unique personality.
Phoenix here.
Phoenix is very...
chatty.
He loves to regurgitate for people-
[A] Oh yeah. [C] So just like that.
[A] Same.
[C] Yeah, that means that he likes you guys.
They might try to kiss and pluck at your facial hair.
[A] Ohoho nice.
So I'm going to give you Phoenix.
I'm going to give you Eclipse.
[C] He says, 'that's a lot of hair'.
[D] What's happening?
Is he not feeling it?
[A] Yes-
[D] I'm sorry.
[D] I can- [C] I'm going to have you shake your arm out.
[D] I can do a ponytail.
[C] You can rest your- [D] He's trying to get as far from the hair as possible.
[D] I'm sorry, buddy.
[C] He says it's a lot, but this is Eclipse.
Eclipse is a Jenday conure.
Phoenix is a Sun conure.
Eclipse is a little bit of the nicer one.
So Eclipse likes to hang out on
new people's hands and shoulders,
but I guess he's a little intimidated by your hair.
[D] It's okay.
[C] Phoenix, as long as Eclipse is there,
he's comfortable with anything.
And the reason why they're brightly
colored is so that he can blend in
and camouflage with mangoes!
[A] I was thinking how delicious they look
but like, not-
Like, in a fruity way!
[C] Yeah, be like a fruity chicken.
[A] Yeah.
[D] Awww
[C] Let me switch over. [D] Cool guy!
[A] Can I--oh, okay.
[C] Yeah.
[D] I'm going to do a little of this....
[A] Eclipse is just like way into the Arin situation.
[C] There you go.
[D] Better? Better?
[C] Yeah, there you go.
If you make kissy noises at him
sometimes he'll bob his head
and that's his regurgitating motion.
[DAN IS ALL ABOUT THE KISSES]
[D] Want a barf for me?
Want to throw up for Daddy?
[A] I love when I move my hand a little bit,
I can feel the like--
HNNNNHNNG
the anxiousness of the grab.
Like 'no no no'
[D] Like- what are you doing?
[A] Wow, they love each other.
[D] Yeah, they really do like each other.
[D] That's so sweet.
[A] That is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life.
[C] Yeah, okay, just wait for the next one!
The next one's name is Curly.
[A] Curly?
[D] Curly's a Hell Stallion.
[NEIGHS FIRE JUST LIKE A REAL HELL STALLION WOULD]
[D] Just a giant flaming horse.
All right, this is Curly.
[D] WHOA! [A] What the f-
[A] What the hey? [D] Look at you!
[C] Curly is a curly-haired pigeon.
So they are a type of fancy pigeon.
You're welcome to hold them, but just
be aware that she is going to try to
flap out of your hands.
So you want to hold them kind of like a football.
One thumb over the other, over their wings.
[A] How am I- oh...
[D] Like a football, Arin.
[C] Like a football, there you go.
[D] And then- [C] There you go.
[D] Reel back with your strong arm.
[ GENTLE YEET ]
Nice, tight spiral.
[A] I like the--
guhguh
[C] Yeah!
[A] The steady-cam action going on.
[C] So, Curly-haired pigeons are a interesting breed of pigeon.
They are domesticated, which means that
you're not going to find them in the wild.
[A] Okay-
[C] They're not a wild pigeon because
they would have a really hard time flying
and getting away from predators.
[A] I feel bad for this little guy.
She's like, shaking. Am I-
[D] I'm like, "Curly, /please/ đ© on Arin.
PLEASE.
I'm begging you.
[D] Is that shaking because she's very happy?
[C] Yeah, let's go with that.
[D] mmkay...
Yeah, shaking is kind of like a
"I'm so happy, I really want to peck you."
[WISHES TO ASSERT DOMINANCE IN THE PECKING ORDER]
[A] Wow. [D] Okay, cool.
[C] Yeah.
[C] She really is beautiful.
I don't know if you can see it on the camera,
but she has these green and purple feathers.
Can you see them?
[A] Yeah, it's- it's like iridescent.
[D] Oh-
[DAN FUMBLES THE FANCY PIGEON]
[CHRISTINA INTERCEPTS CURLY]
[DEFENSE HAS THE BIRD]
[D[ Hohoho!
Not so fast, Curly.
[CHRISTINA SETTING UP FOR THE THROW]
Not today, Satan.
[I AM GOOGLING ALL OF THESE SPORTS TERMS]
[A] Another delicious-looking bird.
[C] Yes.
[A] But not in the bird way.
It looks like a- like a-
[A] -coffee. [D] She's just-
[A] If I was an animal in one of these, like-
arrays, I'd just be living it up.
Just let me sit in your hand.
[D] That- that was like the frog.
[A] Yeah~
[D] I'm just going to pee right here.
[D] Oooh, my man!!!
I love these.
I used to have one.
They are the best.
[C] So, this is Dexter.
Dexter is a Chinchilla.
One of the most fun facts that I like to
tell people about chinchillas is that they
can poop up to 500 times a day.
[D] They sure can.
[A] YES.
That is my animal right there.
[C] Yeah.
They're really small pellets
so you just kind of brush them off to the side.
So, what I like to do is
occasionally I like to put them on kids' heads.
So, if you guys would like to, you are welcome to do that
or you guys can just hold them in your hand.
So, you're going to tilt your chin right now.
[A] Oh, I thought you were talking about the poop.
[C] Oh.
Well, he might poop in your hair!
[D] Mhm
It's fine.
[C] There you go.
[D] I haven't felt this in so long.
[C] Alright- I am going to... scooch you.
[D] When I was-
When I was a kid, I had one.
uhm-
His name was Dustin
[D] because- [C] Dustiiiiin đ
[D] I had just seen Hook.
And so, it was named after Dustin Hoffman.
[C] But it kind of works because
they are an animal that-
[C] -likes dust! [D] The dust baths, yeah!
[C] Yeah!
[D] And they take these little dust baths, like-
Like, they hate water, right?
[C] Mhm! [D] Yeah.
[C] Uhm- Not so much that they hate water
but they just cannot get wet.
[D] Right.
[C] The reason why they cannot get wet
is because their hair is so dense,
so thick that if they were to get wet,
they would grow mold.
[A] Oh- [D] Yes.
[D] Oh, is that why? [A] Yeah.
[A] Did you just poop on me?
[ARIN GASPS WITH CHILD-LIKE WONDER]
[C] Oh, did you get a poo?
[D] Yeaaaaah! [C] You got a poop!
[VANESSA] Do you want one on your head?
[A] Bro-
Oh, on my head?
[C] Yeah.
[A] uh-
He just pooped, so...
[C] Well, then he won't poop in the next second.
[POOP HITS THE TABLE SOUNDING LIKE A GLASS BEAD]
[C] Alright.
[A] Oh, his little whiskers are tickling me.
[D] Yeah.
[D] Please poop on his head.
God- if there's a god in the sky!
[A] 500 of these?!
[D] 500. [C] Yuup!
[A] That's like- that's like the old proverb where it's like
"Oh, one rice a day, that doubles every day."
[IT WAS NOT A PROVERB]
[A] 500 is like day 20.
[D] Yeah, yeah.
[D] Arin, please remove the feces from the table.
[A] No.
[D] This is- this is different for me.
This-this one--
[C] You're going to meet another fuzzy creature.
[A] Mhmm...
[C] This is Louisa
Louisa is a Mexican red-knee tarantula.
[A] So cute.
[C] You guys are welcome to either
hold her or, just like the chinchilla,
she can sit on your head.
[A] Not the head one. [C] Like a beret!
[A] I will- I will opt out of the head one
but I will hold the creature.
[C] But we don't pet her.
[A] Okay.
[C] The reason why we don't pet her is because of her hairs.
So she has all these tiny little fine hairs,
and what she does is if she feels threatened or scared,
she's going to take her back legs,
and she's going to swipe them on her abdomen,
and she's going to swipe them on you to make you itchy,
sneezy, and uncomfortable.
[A] It's kinda like her own pepper spray.
[C] Kind of like her own pepper spray, that's right.
[D] May I go first, Arin?
[A+C] Yeah. [D] Because this is, in many ways.
a nightmare for me,
and I want to get it over quickly.
Okay...
[C] Yeah, so I'm going to have her move very slowly on to you.
[A] So you're saying she's terrifying.
Everything about holding her is dangerous.
[C] Naaah, she's a sweetheart.
Whenever you're ready, we can transfer her back to my hand
[C] Whenever you feel comfortable. [D] Okay.
[V] Dan, do you want her on your head?
[D] Vanessa, what the f--k?
[D] Alright, let's do it.
[D] Am I the prettiest princess in the ball? [A] Uh oh-
[D] Don't say uh-oh, Arin.
Shut the f--k up with the uh-ohs.
[A] See, my immediate...
impulse to seeing that is just like,
CHGASHGAZHGA
down the shirt,you know?
[D] Oh, how dare you even suggest such a thing.
When you just feel it
it's very like-
gentle and kind of beautiful.
[C] Mhm
[D] It's only when you look...
[A] Aw- little creach.
Oh, not very active on my hands.
[D] They usually come still before the death strike.
[C] She has 10 limbs
and that's because two of them are arms, technically.
So these two in the front, these guys are her pedipalps.
[D] Does she use that to grab prey?
[C] Mm-hmm, and then she holds them in
and then she injects her venom,
and then she turns them into like a,
like a curry, like a cricket curry.
[A] Mm, delicious.
[C] Yeah, and then she just kind of-
slurps them out.
[D] I'm like still shaking.
[C] Oh, no!
[D] Yeah, yeah, that was really, really tough.
When I get home, my dog, Camilla, is gunna
smell me and be like,
"Who have you been with?"
"What is THAT?"
[C] Alright, we're going to put away-
[A] "You smell like every night club in town!"
[A] Yeah, I thought we were getting like bigger in size,
[A] and then suddenly a spider came out. [D] Yeeeaaaah
[D] Things took a turn.
[C] I always like to surprise~
[A] I love being surprised by spiders in my life.
[A] Fun fams, bringing fun and family together.
Ah, Jesus!
[A] It is my favorite thing.
[D] Oh, hell yeaaaaahh.
[C] Alright- [D] This is what I'm into.
[C] This is Rojo.
[D] Mm-hmm.
[A] Why?
[C] HHmmmmm...
[D] Rojo is French for snake.
Sorry, I've got this one, Critter Christina.
[C] He's going to slither down like this. [D] Oh my maaaaaan!
[C] Yeah, so Rojo is a Sinaloan milk snake.
[A] That sounds delicious.
[C] Milk snakes are so-called milk snakes because people believed
that dairy farmers like to keep them on their dairy farms
because they would eat the mice and the rats
that would chew on the udders of the cows.
[A] Oh...
[A] WHAT? [C] Yeah, so-
[D] Mice and rats do that?
[A] That was so much information at once.
[D] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That took so many turns.
[HAVING A MENTAL CRISIS TRYING TO PICTURE THIS SCENARIO]
[A] Just- what, do they like- dangle?
[DRAMATIZATION]
[D] Can I put him around my neck, or would that be a bad idea?
[C] Yeah, no, you're good.
[D] Really?
[C] He might get tangled in your hair...
[D] That's fine.
At least he ACCEPTS my hair.
[A] Finally, a neck to squeeze.
[D] Yeah, seriously.
This guy's a mover and a shaker.
[A] He's looking for udders, dude.
He's like, "Where's that milk?"
AALALLALA
[C] He is mimicking a coral snake.
Coral snakes are very venomous.
[A] Yeah. [D] Oohhh
[C] They tend to--
[A] It's the color combination, right?
[C] Yes, the color combination.
So supposedly there is a rhyme that goes with it.
[A] Yes!
So it's "black and red, friend of Fred.
Red and yellow, kill a fellow."
[A] Yeah.
Which is funny, because it's like black and red...
You would think like-
[BOYS] "You're gonna be dead."
[D] Yeah, yeah.
I thought the same thing.
[A] My first impulse, isn't "Fred". [C] And that's the problem with that rhyme
[C] People get confused.
[D] I would run into these in the desert and just like
frantically be trying to remember rhymes.
[A] Black and red, they make bread?!
[C] Let's start with the neck first.
And then he'll slowly flow...
...down into your arms.
Or into your shirt!
He likes dark places.
[A] Oh, yeah?
You're gonna go into my shirt?
[D] You can do one button, man.
Give him a little invitation.
[A] Show him a good time.
[A] Oh! [D] Oh, there-
[D] Ooooh, he went for it!
[A] He was looking for my udders, dude.
[C] Alright, let's get to my next animal.
So this is 405.
This is a leopard tortoise.
They are known for their very ornate shell,
so they have this beautiful shell.
You can tell that she's been pet a lot.
Also likes to rub on things so that
her shell is nice and shiny and clean.
[D] Can the tortoise feel when we pet the shell?
[C] Oops sorry-
Yes, they can.
[D] They can... [A] Whoa-
[C] Now she's a little shy because
she's up higher than she usually is.
She's usually on the ground.
[A] Wait, does she- can feel like the
pull of the earth or something?
[C] Uhm- not so much the pull of the earth, but just that I'm
lifting her up and then I put her up on the table.
[WAS PROBABLY STILL THINKING ABOUT THE UDDERS]
[D] You all right, man?
[C] That'd be cool if they could!
If you guys want, you guys can
lift her up and feel how heavy she is.
[ARIN STRUGGLING TO LIFT THIS ABSOLUTE UNIT]
[C] So tortoises have very poor eyesight, so they don't see
very well in terms of, like- shapes,
but they see very well in colors.
So when they see bright things in front of them,
they're going to automatically assume,
"Oh, it's a carrot," or, "Oh, it's a fruit."
What we are going to do next is
you guys are going to sit together.
So closer together, my last friend, her name is Lilo.
We're going to say bye to 405.
[A] Bye, 405.
[D] Lilo likes to kill in pairs.
[D] Oh, no peeking? Okay.
[V] Close your eyes~
[D] Okay...
[A] Close my eyes. What are we doing here?
[C] So what you guys are going to do--
[D] Open your mouth.
What????
[A] It's a big ass snake, isn't it? [D] IT'S HUGE.
[A] It's a big ass snake.
[D] What IS it?
[A] Yuh.
[C] There you go.
[D] Ohhh
[A] You got the head.
[C] So this is Lilo. She's a Colombian red tail boa.
She is a really good-sized girl
She's very thick and girthy.
[D] You can REALLY feel the power.
[C] Yes. She is very strong and very muscular.
[A] It's like all muscle in it.
So how much can she bench?
[C] How much can she bench?
You know, that's a good question.
[D] She does feel like a dumbbell type of weight.
[D] Yeah. She's very--
She's actually only about 30 pounds.
So she feels heavier than she is because
she's distributed out in this long length.
Now, she's really cool because she is a camouflager.
Just like a lot of animals, she camouflages,
but she camouflages in a very interesting way.
She has two colors to camouflage with.
If you look down at her from the canopies,
because she's a snake that likes to stay in the trees,
you can see she blends in with the shadows and the leaves.
And then when you look up at her towards the sun,
you're going to see that the sunlight comes through
and she blends in with the leaves with
the sunlight coming through the back of it.
[A] Yeah. I can see the kind of like green sheen of her.
[C] Yeah.
[D] I keep looking over at you and wanting to be like,
"Arin, there's a huge f--king snake on you."
[C] Would you guys like to finish up with Lilo on your necks?
[C] Or to stay on you? [D] Like- finish up life, or--
[C] All right. If you guys would like to know more about the animals

like a- like someone in a full panic
trying to stay calm and deliver lines.
