Outlines
🎉 Hermitcraft Charity Event and Factory Progress
The speaker returns from the Gamers Outreach charity event in Michigan, where 147 Hermits participated and raised a substantial amount of money. Despite the success, the speaker was unable to work on their server. The focus now shifts to building and improving a Redstone factory, which is nearly complete with its programming and binary coding. The speaker plans to decorate and finalize the factory, making it fully operational. The area is also described as an animal paradise with many animals and resources. The summary of the factory's components and a brief introduction to binary encoding for the audience is provided, with an example of how to encode numbers in binary form.
🛠️ Redstone Shop and Factory Automation
The speaker discusses the Redstone shop made in the last episode and the desire to open it up. However, the priority is to automate crafting in the factory before manually handling resources. The plan is to have the factory produce all the required products. The speaker also talks about decorating the factory room and redirecting the output system to improve efficiency. There's a mention of using a skull sensor as a switch to activate the factory only when the speaker is present. The conversation also includes a discussion about new horns, a water wheel with cherry pink highlights, and a bamboo farm design.
🏭 Factory Design and Functionality Overview
The speaker outlines the initial construction of the factory's wall and describes the transportation system for resources using bubble elevators and mine carts. The plan includes a detailed design for the ceiling and the integration of gears and gadgets into the factory's decor. The factory's storage room is mentioned, which will store items from various farms. The speaker expresses excitement about the factory's visual aspects, including the lighting system that indicates production status and the distribution of finished products to storage barrels.
🔴 Factory Activation and Debugging
The speaker nervously decides to turn on the factory, which involves a complex system of binary encoding, item distribution, and transportation. The factory's efficiency in multitasking is highlighted, but it is noted to be less efficient in producing large quantities of a single item. The speaker activates the factory and observes the initial operation, including the crafting of torches and the transportation of items via mine carts. Issues with the system are acknowledged, and it is decided that further debugging and refinement are necessary.
📦 Factory Output and Future Plans
The speaker notes that the factory has been running and producing items like torches, repeaters, and barrels, but there are speed issues and misplaced items that need to be addressed. The plan is to finalize the Redstone shop, fix the factory's issues, and ensure a smooth operation. The speaker also contemplates the placement of a mailbox and invites suggestions from the audience. The session ends with a light-hearted interaction with other characters and a promise to continue the project in the next episode.

hello my friends and welcome back to
hermitcraft we are back we are back from
the amazing Gamers Outreach charity
event in Michigan where like 147 Hermits
all went out there we raised like a 800
bazillion th ner dollars and it was a
massive success we got to hang out with
hermit for like a week it was pretty
much the greatest week ever the
unfortunate thing however is it was
another week of me being not on the
server not looking at this beautiful sun
and not making progress so today that
changes we are going to build this en
time to sweep beats is on bebs is on can
we beat him can we beat him can we beat
him y That's right sler where was I
before I was interrupted by the by the
sunset with the sun and the falling to
the factory that's right we're today
today we are going to it's all gonna
happen it's all gonna happen I don't
even remember I don't even remember how
much you guys saw but look the Redstone
for the whole Factory is done it is all
programmed all the binary and coding is
done I'll show you that today we're
going to build out this room here this
Mega room here and uh we're going to
have mine carts moving around and items
are going to be flying through the air
and things are going to be decorated
it's going to be all steampunky I mean
basically the factory is going to be
100% working today oh and by the way
it's freaking animal Paradise up here I
don't
know I don't know why there's so many
animals up here dropping all their poop
and their eggs and everything up here
there's like a thousand look at this
eggs every everywhere sheep pigs is that
sheep looking at me so let's recap let's
let's go over what we've done here we
have I believe 36 uh crafting modules in
the factory on each side 18 or 18 on
each side 36 total we've got torches and
repeaters and competitors and Hoppers
and ploppers and droppers and observers
and things like that and you shouldn't
be there and Scaffolding and candles and
beehives and bookshelves with the
fancy chiseled bookshelves absolutely
they're totally chiseled and signs and
sticks and planks and nothing and loop
around we have a bunch of empty ones
over here and of course we have our TNT
I might have been a little bit nervous
placing that block I'm not going to lie
we have glass we have fireworks we have
rails and rails and rails and pistons
and pistons and lights and targets and
Music Makers and craft deats and all the
things that can be made are being made
here and down here on the bottom this is
where all the nerd stuff happens and
where we do all of our binary encoding
to uh send messages to the storage to
request items for each of the craft
cators now it's come to my attention
that when I use nerd speak like that and
I use words like binary encoding that
there's there's a small percentage of
you that have no clue what I'm talking
about and that is okay because I don't
either but in the previous live stream I
tried to explain how all this works and
it seems like some people actually
appreciate it so today believe it or not
we are going to do our first annual
installment of Tango teaches binary all
right students buckle up because I'm
going to try to explain this quickly and
very poorly I am sure to encode a number
in binary is basically just a series of
ones and zeros as you probably know each
one and zero or each each slot here
represents a power of two so starting at
the lowest bit that that value is one
the second bit is two then four then 8
and 16 and 32 and 64 and 128 and 256 and
512 and 1024 and 2048 and 4096 anyway
it's very simple when you want to encode
a number in binary all you do is add up
the components that match up to the
value you want so for instance if you
want to encode five in binary the only
way to do that is with a four and a one
you add those together you get five so
binary 4 five is one because you're
taking this Bit Zero because you're not
taking the two one because you are
taking the one so one0 1 is five in
binary and if you wanted to make like
we'll say 11 you would take the eight
the two and the one because 8 plus 2 + 1
equals 11 so you would get a 1 Z because
you're not taking the four 1 1 1 0 11 1
equals 11 so that translates over here
to the binary encoding we have every
resource in the factory has been
assigned a number as you can see here we
got quartz 24 Stone 51 redstone torch
one so we'll take this first one here
Redstone Redstone Dust is 21 because
right here we're making uh Redstone
we're making Redstone torches with
sticks and Redstone Dust so to encode
21 would be a 16 a four and a 1 so 1 0 1
0 1 one does that make sense 1 0 1 0 1
and over here you can see starting here
at the low bit so like this represents
the one this one right here so we have 1
16 0 1 4 0 1 1 16 + 4 + 1 21 encoded and
that will light up these rails this this
rail here this rail here and this rail
here and that'll Loop all the way around
go through the decoders in the back and
Signal the what is it the Redstone Dust
so it'll be released and into this craft
Gator so we can create torches and that
concludes the accelerated convoluted
version of Tango teach's
binary that helped right that helped
you're all you're all binary experts now
you understand what I'm doing down here
with the encoding and the binaries and
okay we'll move on now now a lot of you
are probably asking Tango what about the
Redstone shop you made last episode you
got to open it up you got to get the
things in there so Etho can give you all
his diamonds and he could be poor and
you could be rich and everything could
be great and that is important that is
at the top of my list and by the top of
my list I second on my list because what
I want to do the goal like it would be
silly to open this up and manually craft
all of the resources I'm going to need
for this Factory when I I got a factory
they could do it for me in theory so
we're going to push this probably back
to next episode we're going to get this
all detailed out and decorated and it's
going to be happy Funtime amazing but
what I would love is to have the factory
produce all of the products for here so
that's why we're going to this will be
next episode I think I think so we got a
lot to do today here and I think the
first thing I want to do is get this
room decorated get this room built out
you know with actual walls and ceilings
and get everything positioned the way
look at all the resources coming in I
also have to redirect the output of the
factory so right now this bubble Vader
here is the anything crafted in the
factory comes down this and over there
and goes up this bubble Vader and it
just kind of it just kind of it just it
just poops out in the floor right here
it's very embarrassing that was
temporary that's going to be fixed today
we got to redirect that underneath to
Somewhere Over here I believe I think
it's going to come up like right in the
back here and go up cuz we're going to
do cool stuff with mine carts and it's
going to drop off items and it's going
to fall in water and it's going tooop
and fall and it's going to be really
neat and then I got to figure out how to
actually turn the factory on because one
of the things I want uh this was
actually Etho suggestion and I think
it's a good one I don't want the factory
running 24/7 even though it' be more
efficient I only want because the
factory is going to be very Visual and
fun to watch I only want the factory
running while I'm here so I'm thinking I
don't know this is like the main
entrance I may put like a a water log
skull sensor down here or something and
when you come in it hits that and it
turns the factory on for a little bit
and maybe there's like skull sensor
spread around so as long as I'm in here
moving around it keeps the factory
active I don't know but then maybe
there'll be a spot if I want to I could
like kind of stand in one spot and AFK
to keep the factory going I don't know
these are the things I got to decide and
my voice got very high there for some
reason hanger yes spoiler hi am I
spoiling things down things I'm spoiling
I'm not not at all not at all not at all
was that you or was that a horn
what it's um there was a I see you but
it was your voice was that you it just
scared me but it's it's a it must be a
horn I think someone cuz I barely barely
heard it yeah it must be one of cies
horns got you it totally got me but then
I was like wait a minute that's
me I love the new horns the new horns
are great yeah oh it is I need some more
like short response horns that I can
like kind like gems you know oh my God
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah on like that I
really want ones like that have you have
you looked at all of them over there yet
I have I have a few myself okay I
haven't bought any because I'm poor and
have no shops but yeah what do you got
what do you got oh I see okay let's see
right so we got first off take a look at
how big my booty
is number one that's great I was like I
got to get that one I got this one I
chop I dig your mom is really big
e with the mom jokes of course there
random one from E and then just this one
what are you doing I like it the M of
times I have to come to a Hermit and go
what the heck you what are you doing
pretty much every time you come over
here every time you come over here what
are you doing yeah what are you doing
yeah what do you been up to Bary what do
you been up to uh I was terraforming
today I added a beautiful cherry pink
highlights my water wheel it looks very
intriguing show me I seen it
we s okay there you go is it so yeah the
look at the Cherrywood on the wheel the
gear down
there yeah it's my water wheel of course
like I did copper because I I like to
I'm trying to transition to your that
already so good that's so good yeah just
the pink it works as really nice
highlight so I was working on the ter
like terraforming of this little section
today uhhuhh uh added myself some solar
panels and then on the right hand side
solar panels wait what where up on top
there
yeah yeah with the WW yeah yeah yeah
yeah okay you know what I I've made a a
redstone design and I didn't watch
tutori show me show me immediately it's
it it's in Creative but I will show you
when it's done when it's done I can't
wait yeah what's it do what's it do it's
just a it's just a bamboo Farm oh okay
well thing like oh oh the the baby Farm
design no no no no that's good that's
good that's a good start I did it with
that look tutorial and it also does a
thing where I used a comparative so the
cat like goes up onto the little thing
and it EMP and it doesn't let the cat go
it's all empty again compar things I
love it very good very good bro very
good very good I may need your help with
a furner either because I don't know how
to make place okay yeah we can do that I
can't think like I tried looking at it I
was like I don't know how to do this my
brain hurts yeah my I already spent it
on the on the the bamboo Farm like we
could definitely do that yeah okay okay
oh I love this you you honestly inspire
me like I just want to start building
more around here to work with the
merging and the stuff of all the of our
Styles I would love that I don't want to
put any pressure on you but I would love
it so I know I know it'll happen it'll
happen soon
soon okay we are back and we have the
beginnings of one wall of the factory
here here I'm just kind of trying to
iron things out here but there's already
a lot going on and keep in mind this
isn't detailed yet this is just kind of
like the initial function we're going to
have more little details and Fun Stuff
added very soon but I want to show you
how things are basically going to work
and how the motion is working you can
already see it happening right here okay
so this right here super cool bubble
elevator glassless bubble elevator with
uh you can see the water is only held
back by the copper uh trap doors there
so everything that comes up there is
coming up from my factory not my factory
but the the farms and everything down
below the iron farm the bamboo Farm etc
etc that's all coming up here okay and
then behind the scenes you can see it's
going over there and dropping down there
and then sliding across this so
everything that we produce below we get
a nice visual here both both going up
the column and sliding across here and I
absolutely love seeing the various items
go by I even like how they slow down a
little bit right toward the end there
but there's more going on here you can
see up there and that little hole up
there that's where the mine carts are
going to come by and those mine carts
are going to be holding it's going to be
like a mine cart with a chest that's
going to be holding all the items
produced in the factory in fact this
Stone here kind of represents the rail
that's going to go all the way around so
it's going to start here go over the
corner over to there and then come out
there and when it does you can see back
here back behind those uh copper trap
doors there there's like Hoppers and
stuff those are all sorter so as the
mine cart goes over it's going to drop
the items down it's going to go through
the powdered snow there to align it make
sure it goes nice straight and then
check this out this is going to be so
cool I'm actually really excited about
this this is all like hidden stuff back
here you can't see it but the items are
going to flop out of the snow into the
water stream and shoot off the edge here
and land perfectly on the appropriate
Hopper so every column here is a is a
various item that you know can be
produced in the factory and again we're
going to have that here we're going to
have it there and we're going to have it
over here too so the mineart comes
through the hole over there drops down
through the hopper through the snow into
the water stream Bo it out it's going to
like do a little fly thing over here
land on the hopper and when it does this
is the cool part here the uh the hopper
here is actually going to read be read
by the comparator there so a little bit
more even more visuals here the items as
they're being produced that will light
up those lamps will light up so I'll
even be able to see which items are
being produced there and when the
barrels here fill up and we're at
capacity well then obviously the items
can't go into the barrel anymore they're
going to stay in the hopper which means
the lights are going to turn on so I'll
also be able to like at a glance be able
to see what what I'm needing what I you
know what I do not have capacity at for
which product and stuff so you know
whatever lights are off means I need
more of it and when it's blinking that
means I'm producing it so this is a
start but we've got a lot more to do
obviously I got to take this and build
it there and there and there I want to
break symmetry though and change the
texturing up a little bit on this side
uh the back wall here we've got mostly
deep slate but we're going to add all
kinds of gears and and little gadgets
and things like here maybe some Blinky
things on the walls I have no idea we'll
figure that out uh and then we'll get a
ceiling in here and and it's going to
it's going to come together here but I'm
very very excited we've got again this
is our like base storage room here I'll
probably extend this out a little bit
more here for things that have nothing
to do with the factory over here in this
little room back here again we enclose
all this this is everything that comes
up from the factory below you can see we
got like bamboo we got iron more things
to come there and then again over here
on this side this is the things that
I've uh we're going to be like
delivering remotely from other Farms you
know like obviously Redstone and
gunpowder from The Raid Farm quartz
stealing that from impulse things like
that okay okay big big big update the
room is done it's not fully detailed yet
but we're mostly done in here I decided
to change up this side and put some of
the uh the Piston piping technique in
here which I kind of like uh but I'm I'm
kind of looking at it realizing I I did
it kind of hastily and quick and there's
like pipes that go nowhere and stuff so
I'll probably have to to rethink some of
this and have it more go up and down
anyways that's not important we are
going to detail room we're going to make
a a more fancy ceiling probably like a
dome ceiling up on top I think that's
all going to come in a future date
because right now I think think I'll be
honest I'm I'm like kind of even nervous
to say this but I think it's time to
turn this Factory on and that terrifies
me because there's basically a 1% chance
that everything works between all the
binary encoding and the item distributor
and the item pickup system and the mine
cart product return thing and it's just
not going to work and apparently I just
broke a chest that that's got to be the
animation system whatever but anyways
this over here is the uh the raw
ingredients that have been requested by
the factories I was testing the uh the
request system a little bit and this is
what is queued up so far I I've got it
locked so it's not turning on so there's
a couple things I got I got to turn that
on and the uh the global kind of clock
down below which I haven't really solved
how I want to do that but we're just
going to turn that on uh and that's
going to allow all of the crafting
modules to continuously request the
resources that they need so first things
first let's go over here let's go over
here and turn this off Boop and that
should
should should release a mine cart there
we go Hopper mine cart and that's that's
Distributing items from this guy right
here you can see watch every time one
goes it sucks up a bunch more and they
go all the way around and ideally like
this should be this should be just about
empty right now it's already empty these
mine carts will come over here they
should have nothing in them they should
have nothing in them I think let me let
me see if I can snag one okay nope that
was the crafter I clicked on what about
you you were empty okay now those guys
go over there they go under underneath
and they come up here and they return to
the system so that's ingredient
distribution now this is the Moment of
Truth here this is this is where it gets
really interesting because I'm going to
flick this lever right here and this
clock is going to turn on which is going
to allow all the crafting modules to
continuously be requesting resources
it's going to take a little bit while to
get to get kind of warmed up here okay
there it goes there it goes so
ingredients are going to continuously
flow into here and these these mine
carts are basically never going to stop
now now here's the problem and it's kind
of a realization I've made with this
thing this Factory is really really
really good at multitasking and making a
lot of things at once it's really really
bad at making the same thing all in mass
quantities it's going to be very very
slow making each individual thing but it
can make all the things at once so since
I just turned this thing on we got to
let this go for a little bit and let all
the resources Pile in I got to figure
out what resources I don't even have and
I need more of that kind of thing but
essentially a lot of these torches
should start turning off soon which says
hey I've got enough resources for that
modules and when we see a module that
has all three torches off uh that means
it's going to start crafting things okay
it's kind of working here this is pretty
exciting I'm not going to lie the the uh
Redstone torches are being crafted here
right now we're missing one stick so
it'll request one more stick oh I think
it just came in actually is that it it's
right here I think there's the stick so
it should go right in there turns that
off this crafter you can see the crafter
just kicked on it should have just made
a torch and we should see the torch go
there goes there goes the torch right
there and another mine cart that I don't
know what I don't know what that other
one was there goes that that's the one
with the torch goes behind and it
probably dropped it into the sorder my
sworders need to fill up still but if
the sworders back there were filled up
that torch would have uh cascaded off
that water and fall into the hopper and
gone into this Barrel here in fact let's
see let's see how many we got in the in
the sorder
here right here we've got we got 36 so
so my guess is yeah once we get you know
41 or whatever it is there then they'll
start cascading over and falling into
the actual storage so yeah in case you
couldn't tell I'm trying to keep
everything very visual here with the
mine carts going along by the way this
isn't done here this is going to be
detailed much better uh the mine carts
dropping off the products this is again
this is the items coming in from the uh
from the Farms down below this uh water
column right here are all items that are
requested of the crafting modules will
go up here so you can see visually
what's being crafted right here as
things get sent up there
uh it's pretty amazing you can see that
goes Redstone just went by more Redstone
I mean I'm not going to lie I'm I'm
pretty excited right now this is it
seems like it's working so I'm just
going to keep like going through and
making sure I have resources everywhere
like I know I'm missing like string so I
can't make candles right now uh things
like that so we're going I'm just going
to go through and make sure I have
everything and I think we're going to
let this thing spin for a while and see
uh see how it goes here it goes here it
goes here it goes watch watch here we go
it's going to craft a torch torch goes
in the back it's going to work this time
I think I think the sorder is filled up
wait for the torch to go up the bubble
Vader wait for the mine cart to bring it
around come on here it goes and please
work please
work that's so great oh it's the little
things that make me so happy give us the
torango we won't bother you give us the
tour we won't bother
you but but stop what you're doing but
stop what you're doing explain it
clearly though as as you do yeah M and
where's the entrance Toto going to be in
the base right there is it auto crafting
oh my carts are going love the pipes
love the pipes at first I thought you
were trying to spell Tango with those I
know there's like some up upside down
te's and stuff it looks
like we got a problem in the in the
Redstone torches okay oh no you just put
that there come
on if you're going to try and drink me
at least like throw a repeater in there
or something all right you know what I
think we're going to wrap it up here
because I'm definitely at the point
where debugging is going to take quite a
while but I did let it run for a while
and I got like we got like torches and
we got like the repeaters and what is it
barrels we got some barrels uh we're
going crazy with the scaffolding all
this stuff has been created
automatically uh from the factory here
but there's some speed issues I got to
work out we're going we're going to get
that worked out and then there's other
issues things are popping out in places
they shouldn't be popping out and and
nobody likes that you know what I'm
saying right so I think next time we
will finish up well next time we're
going to finish the Redstone shop next
time we are going to put the roof on
this thing get it detailed and get it
functioning
correctly we're going to make sure it's
bug free and we can get a good space or
good pace and I think I think I got to
figure out where I want to put my
mailbox I I don't know I may put it back
here it with like a little Corridor
right there I think I don't know where
should I put my mailbox you guys let me
know he knows it he knows it he knows
it all right then guys until next time
um yeah I got some guys hanging out here
they won't leave me alone I'll see you I
would like to see your butt please I'll
see you next time what is happening
