Highlights
Introduction of new subass that allows combining light and dark powers from different subclasses, named Prismatic.
Prismatic subass enables players to combine solar Strand and stasis for Hunters, and Fire and Ice combo Strand and Arc Strand for Titans.
Warlocks can combine stasis and void with the new subass, although there's a mention of a void grenade.
Concerns about power creep are addressed by Bungie's decision to push through the power ceiling with the introduction of Prismatic.
The new subass is an advanced level of subclass customization, catering to casual players and those who may be overwhelmed by complex options.
Players may still prefer simpler builds with solo or mono subass elements despite the introduction of Prismatic.
The new enemy race called The Dread is introduced, featuring the Grim husk Weaver and the Grim, a flying bat creature with a gun.
The Grim husk Weaver has Strand and stasis Powers, and one of its abilities is to launch players forward.
Bungie is introducing an exotic class item in final shape that provides two armor perks from Exotics, possibly from a different class.
The exotic class item will only have its randomly rolled perks active while a Prismatic subass is equipped.
Players can expect to hunt for the perfect class item to complement their Prismatic subass, aiming for powerful exotic perk combinations.
The introduction of the exotic class item may lead to new and potentially game-breaking perk combinations that Bungie will need to monitor.
UI changes include a more centralized display of buffs and debuffs, with separate sections for each.
Luke Smith makes an appearance, hinting at the ongoing development of Destiny 2 and Beyond, despite his previous role changes.
The developer seems to be pulling out all stops for the new features, aiming to surprise and excite players with unexpected updates.
The multiclassing feature and the exotic class item are expected to significantly enhance build crafting and gameplay variety.
Despite concerns about complexity for casual players, the new features are anticipated to bring fun and excitement to the game.
The unexpected announcement of these features has generated a lot of positive sentiment and excitement within the player community.
The development of Prismatic seems to have been a long-term project, potentially years in the works, rather than a recent development.
The introduction of these features may not focus on making high-end content extremely challenging, but rather on maintaining appropriate difficulty for a wide range of players.
Transcripts
second okay uh uh uh here what's going
on here class abilities from different
damage types oh my God bro that gives
you infinite sustain radiant devour
Amplified it's like the PVP team makes
like a little bit of progress and then
the PVE team is like about that bro it's
just like you gave them what with huh
it's the taken k items allow you to
steal perks from other Exotics and
combine two perks together into one
single exotic the bir that come on them
are actually random rolles one thing
that is going to be fun is to chase
these bks and the fact that it's random
rolles you're going to want to keep
looking for the right one for your
builds
oh
that's like three different wall effects
at once yeah we kind of got a vioc for
this I was not
anticipating receiving something like
this I was much more of the opinion that
we were going to do the same thing that
we've been doing for the past 3 weeks
which is bunch of devs sitting in their
Studio playing the game talking about
this talking about that and uh instead
we got like a full vioc showing three
very key features I would say coming to
final shape now if you are a veteran of
the game you're probably looking down
here and noticing that this seems wrong
Bungie is introducing Prismatic which is
a new subass that's going to allow you
to combine light and dark powers from
all the different sub classes I believe
they said that you're only going to be
able to do specific sub classes like
this is uh Hunter for now so Hunters can
do solar Strand and stasis does that
apply to all all characters no I think
warlock could do maybe warlock couldn't
do void I was seeing them with devour oh
no but this dude has a uh has a void
grenade so I know they say I know they
mention it somewhere in here let's see
if we can find it BS both light and dark
together
Hunter combo Titan hunters get this Fire
and Ice combo Strand and Arc Strand and
Arc for Titan the Warlock stasis and
void together stasis and void okay so
it's just for the grenade that you get
when you activate Transcendence which is
this meter below the super meter uh
everything else seems like it is
completely flexible yeah that's just the
grenade just the grenade but I would say
that that's probably the main feature of
this whole multiclassing thing is that
you are going to be able to combine
different parts of different subclasses
into some big Mega subass Prismatic
subass class I've been pretty vocal
about my concern for power creep and uh
Bungie was just like
LOL we're going to blast through that
power creep ceiling and go even further
Beyond they said there's a Dev Insight
blog post tomorrow as well what we're
looking at here is just the ability to
combine a whole lot of different things
all at once they did say that this was
an advanced level of subclass
customization I know there was a lot of
questions of like dude Prismatic is
literally in the game
why would people choose to do literally
anything else you guys got to remember
that there's a lot of casuals who play
this game and there are a lot of people
who are overwhelmed even by the options
that we have right now so I don't think
everyone is just going to be using this
if they don't know how to use it to
their full abilities they're probably
going to be pretty overwhelmed it is an
advanced level thing I'm sure there's
going to be plenty of tutorials and
builds of like you should combine this
with this so you can do this but I
absolutely think there will still be
people using just solo mono elements of
sub classes because either that's just
what they like doing um or they just do
not want to be overwhelmed I'm a very
big proponent of if your build is too
complex and there's too many timers to
maintain to the point where it's not fun
I don't know how good of a build it is
and this absolutely feels like it could
drift into that territory where there's
just so many things to micromanage and
it becomes not fun for certain players
and you also still have a lot of subass
synergy with a single element and all
that kind of stuff so I absolutely think
people will still be playing with solo
sub or mono subass elements and types
and all that kind of stuff a lot of this
is taking place within areas of the
final shape I mean I guess it's a
Nightfall but like it's all it also
looks like a new area like I don't
remember that environment at all so I
feel like there might be some
speculation that you can only do this
within the pale heart of the Trap but I
don't think they mentioned anything
explicitly about that and they did say
that there were going to be some
limitations to this kind of a Loadout I
would think it would be pretty insane if
they limited it just to pale heart of
the traveler they show PVP gameplay one
of the screens I don't know if that's
kind oh they did show PVP okay so yeah
that's uh that's another thing is uh
just like when PVP was like starting to
get some Rhythm back Bungie's like hey
by the way we're doing this now and uh
so pvpers that's going to be that's
going to be a little interesting to see
I mean I guess if we're still within the
bounds of like Checkmate and all that
kind of stuff and those rules like
there's only so much build crafting you
can do in PvP but like they talked about
warlock lightning surge being able to be
used like three times in a row so like
that could just go Absolut like people
are going to find absolutely broken
things and they did say it was a new
subass technically even though it's like
combining all of the ones that we have
right now they I think they also said
that there's going to be more fragment
slots I I think they said more aspect
slots as well just like you're going to
get more options mainly because you you
need a little bit more flexibility when
you're working with all of these
different elements so you are going to
have more things available to you I
think that was about it in terms of the
multi subclassing the next thing on the
list is the Exotic class item Bungie is
introducing an exotic class item in
final shape where you are going to get
two armor perks from Exotics that might
be from a class that is not your own you
are going to be able to get exotic perks
from other classes on this item it will
roll two this randomly rolled perk will
only be active while a prismatic subass
is equipped key note but you are going
to be able to get potentially I think
they said randomly rolled exotic class
items that come with different intrinsic
exotic perks on them they can be from
any class so there's going to be a lot
of hunting to see what you can double up
on in terms of Exotics in order to make
a build go even more insane hopefully
you can change how it looks I don't see
why you would not be able to change it I
mean maybe they just leave it like that
but I I assume you will be able to
customize its appearance cuz I feel like
that'd be weird if you couldn't although
I know it's like I know it's an
exotic I know it's like a true exotic
but because of the nature of it I think
you would be able to to switch it like
this is a Titan Mark with a fitan aspect
this is like Bungie's way of sort of
allowing people to have two Exotics
equipped at the same time I'm guessing
the reason we can't just physically
equip two Exotics at the same time is
because I'm I'm going to guess like it's
a like an engineering issue where that
is like so caked and built into the game
at this point that like trying to rip
that out is just like a massive massive
pain in the so instead they're just like
dude just make it some perks bro and I
think this is also more interesting
because it adds a Pursuit element right
and you can do you can do any exotic
perk which is like how do they even
balance this there be so many strange
interactions this will bring up I think
that's kind of the point like this is
basically Bungie just being like e it
dude we ball and just just we like we
were already at an 11 and now we're
going to like a 14 and it is not the
entire perk yes cuz this is aidian it
just has weapons ready very quickly but
aidian
themselves I will get you the exact
definition weapons ready and reload very
quickly provides a small benefit to
Airborne effess stat of all weapons so
it's not the entire thing at least maybe
not on every single you know intrinsic
I'm sure there's going to be some
intrinsics where it is the whole thing
there's going to be some where it's not
the whole thing so it it it does seem to
like take two probably pretty
significant parts of two different
Exotics and throws them onto a class
item so part of your pursuit in final
shape is going to be hunting down the
perfect class item to go with your
Prismatic subass to entire Exotics
wholesale would be more oper says Cosmo
BNG thank you for the Intel Cosmo thank
you for the clarity so like half power
of two Exotics versus full power of one
uh that would be my interpretation yeah
I think that's a that's a easy uh way of
explaining it yeah and also because it's
an exotic class item I you're not going
to be able to equip any other Exotics on
your character so it' be very
interesting to see what sort of perk
combinations people come up with there's
no way they didn't QA test every
possible role I would be very surprised
if they were able to test every single
possible role that's that's what that's
what we do there's no way to account for
all that and I'm sure some combinations
are going to pop up and you know bunge
will see that and be like oh okay we got
to dial that back or maybe there are
some combinations that just cannot roll
with each other they could have thought
of a couple things that was like okay
look this perk and this perk together
that is going to be a problem so I would
anticipate Bungie keeping an eye on game
breaking perk combinations and being
like yeah these two cannot exist
together am I sure you can't put on a
regular exotic as well I'm pretty
confident in saying that because this
class item is going to be exotic so you
would need to be able to equip two
Exotics at the same time which is imposs
so I'd be very surprised if you could
equip two Exotics you couldn't D1 yeah
but that was a different thing that's a
completely different thing you know what
the class exotic class item did in D1 it
gave you 10% more XP okay that's not
even on the same universe okay don't try
and don't bring D1 into this okay the
next thing is a new enemy race called
The Dread I believe they are called
several different enemies we have uh the
Grim husk Weaver attend
uh the Grim is a flying bat creature not
that this is the husk husk is like a
melee dude and when you kill them they
spawn like a a not it's not exactly a
moth but it is like similar to a moth in
that it'll come chase you down um oh
yeah these little dudes have Strand and
stasis Powers one of their strand Powers
is uh being able to launch you forward
like boom like that so they can kind of
jostle you around tendons which
they Scion
adjacent there you go that's that strand
power we was just talking about sorry
this is also playing in 1.5x
speed so there you go there's an example
of uh the husk getting
killed and a little dude popping
out it's more of a suck rather than a p
fair enough yeah so yeah new
Enemy new enemy race there's the
Grim is a flying creature with a gun and
again the the vioc SL reveal has a lot
more of the specifics in here if you
really do want to get specifics they did
say that they only come out if you kill
it the wrong way true true true true
someone mentioned the uh the buff UI we
have this over here it does seem like
you can only have four things still so I
would love to see like an option to be
able to see more but they did adjust
where Buffs are on your screen it's a
little more Central on the left and
there was also a debuff marker on the
right side here uh because the what is
it the rims can scream and so now your
debuffs are on the right so at least now
they're not stacking so now at least all
of your Buffs are going to be shown
they're not going to be interwoven with
with debuffs so that's some progress
yeah and there was something here as
well in the bottom left above your uh
like ammo and and ability why there was
also something at the top of the screen
uh for a different piece of gam play
yeah see here's your debuffs down here
here's your Buffs over here so there is
more information being able to be shown
on the screen which is good sorry I know
the bit rate is really scuffed right now
cuz this a recording of the uh of the
stream and uh there's there's a a lot of
things happening so uh not really going
to talk too much specifically on like
the locations and the gameplay like
areas of where we are in the campaign
cuz you know that's that's stuff to
experience when we actually uh when we
actually play it I just want to kind of
go over the big three um but it does
look pretty sweet there is also tangle
cooldown being shown over here maybe
this is like a different build there's a
stasis Shard that just popped up on the
right I'm looking
reconstruction it's triggered down here
as well so they are putting information
in different parts of the screen would
the split Buffs and debuffs only apply
to the new subass no I think that's a
global UI Global UI change little work
in progress of uh what this UI is going
to look like I guess we'll conclude this
with like Luke Smith actually making an
appearance for the first time in a
little while talking about giving some
very vague like it's not the end of
Destiny Destiny 2 and Beyond it's not
the end of Destiny
[Music]
2 I don't think he's been working on the
game in a very long time I don't know
what he's been doing but it's it's nice
to see him still around you know I just
don't know what he's been doing because
he hasn't been working on the game
because he passed off uh he passed off
game director quite a long time ago yeah
and he's looking good so I'm going to
let I'm let just some of this gameplay
go while we kind of talk opinions I
think this is the most I've actually
reacted to Something in like a really
long time Bungie does really seem like
they are pulling out all the stops for
this one and yeah you know usually
whenever I watch you know a lot of these
vs or any of this new marketing it's
like I know the bungee marketing machine
go Burr right they are good at a trailer
they're good at marketing they're good
at all that kind of stuff but this was
the first time in in quite a long time
where I was like oh my God they're
actually like doing some Stu they're
actually trying to cook and I think
that's been the reaction from pretty
much everybody is like wow they're
really trying to go nuts here so
multiclassing looks super cool combined
with the Exotic class item I am a little
concerned maybe about like you know I
like this is this has potential to be
incredibly incredibly strong and I've
been saying for quite a while we are
very very strong as is but at the very
least it will be really really fun to
mess with all of these different
elements together the Prismatic subass
making build crafting a a little more
interesting than it is right now because
I feel like we've you know we we know
what aspects are good we know what
fragments are good we know what builds
are good but this is going to give so
much room to explore that space in a way
that we haven't really gotten in a while
I would say outside of subclass 3.0 when
they first came out and I mean this is
also fulfilling the fantasy that I feel
like I get asked about every week which
is like if you could have two Exotics at
the same time what would you if you
could combine two sub classes what would
you like bungees just like here you go
you can do that now now you can do it so
in terms of gameplay like it's looking
really sweet
I don't know how the campaign's going to
go they gave a little bit of a trailer
teaser at the
end and uh it all looks very good and
I'm anticipating that the gameplay of
final shape will be on par with witch
Queen and will be on par with lightfall
like I think in terms of gameplay both
of those were were pretty darn close and
from what we've seen the environments
look pretty sweet gameplay looks neat I
don't know I'm pretty I'm pretty stoked
I feel bad for the casuals though this
is going to be so complicated it is
definitely going to be a bit complicated
for sure but I still think there is fun
to be had even if it is going to be a
bit complicated after the third into the
light stream I was kind of like dude
things are kind of looking up and then
this was the the most I've had a
reaction to like anything in a long time
I don't know I'm I'm
pretty I'm pretty stoked now you know
I'm pretty stoked like things things for
for this looking pretty good after final
shape we'll see where we're at you know
Luke said at the beginning of this vioc
like stay tuned we'll let you know what
we're cooking pretty soon here maybe we
have to wait until some sort of an
August showcase like we've had in over
the past few years I don't know at the
very least final shape itself is looking
to be pretty exciting I think you know
it's it's fun to be excited cuz I feel
like historically or at least over the
past like 3 or four years it's kind of
be like yeah okay new season all right
that looks cool but like if I react to
something a man with the emotional
bandwidth of of this range if you get me
to react to something I feel like you're
kind of cooking something up and I
haven't really read too much public
sentiment I haven't gone on Reddit I
haven't really gone on Twitter my I know
my tweet's doing really well like if my
tweet's doing really well like something
is something Good's happening 6,000
likes yeah I don't hit I don't hit over
5,000 very often so like sentiment
really up which is great I think people
people are really stoked I think
Bungie's cooking right now and uh I'm
pretty excited to like mess around with
the stuff because it was just so
unexpected you know like usually you
mention a new subass or something you
hear about it 6 months in advance so to
hear something like this so close to the
launch and have it be so unexpected just
added to the surpris I think that's why
I was so surprised is because they just
they don't do this they don't do this
very often right they don't tell us
about new giant features two months in
advance they usually tell us six months
in advance and we know what to expect so
I think the
unexpectedness is also what is driving a
lot of the excitement no one saw this
coming no one at all saw this coming I
didn't see this coming you didn't see
this coming we don't know what they have
done with their delay with their extra
time I feel like this is something that
needs considerably more time than 3
months like think dude Onslaught they
said they were working on for months
there's no way they turn around
Prismatic in three months this has to be
something months and months potentially
years in the works saw a poas that said
a Dev told him what else could they do
with their time with the
delay dude I mean to to have to come up
with this from scratch and have it in
this state
for a vok type thing in three months
just seems insane to me I'm sure they
they polished it quite a lot during this
time but to to start it up from scratch
and get it to the state in three months
seems insane am I worried about high-end
content being challenging enough bung is
only going to make things so hard right
they're they're never going to make
things that are like so hard for the top
1% of players they're never going to do
that so I've I've kind of just like not
really put too much into that anymore
I've kind of given up on the whole like
Bungie should make everything in the
game super hard for me mentality just
because it's it's never going to be like
that and it hasn't been so I think the
game will stay
appropriately difficult for the widest
amount of people
