welcome to the

10:18

24.3 live open announcement from

10:21

Nashville Tennessee at proven

10:24

headquarters I'm Lauren khil alongside

10:26

Adrien Conway Tommy MIAA I can't believe

10:30

we've already made it through two weeks

10:31

and hopefully this week isn't as painful

10:33

as what we've seen thus far hopefully it

10:35

isn't I'm simply praying that it isn't I

10:39

was 24 two for you Adrian you know it

10:41

was a lot of Transitions and a lot of

10:44

faults with my double unders

10:46

unfortunately it left me just shy of my

10:48

goal but I'm sure I'm not the only one

10:49

in the community that felt that way so

10:51

it was frustrating a little bit Tom did

10:52

you have any repeats oh no that was not

10:54

one I was about to repeat 20 minutes was

10:56

long enough but you know I got to work

10:57

on practicing what I preach told all my

10:59

members back home hey take the row

11:01

smooth make sure your transitions are

11:03

effective get through the deadlifts and

11:04

let's be crisp on those double unders

11:06

and what do I do I go out way too hot in

11:08

that first row the last 3 minutes my

11:10

body and mind were not connected I don't

11:11

really know what happened but um glad to

11:13

say we got through it well before we can

11:15

see what's in store for 24.3 the

11:17

community is getting involved to pick

11:19

who they think is going to win from our

11:22

games athletes today on the floor right

11:24

now Roman krenov

11:27

54% is the best take overall wow

11:31

interesting they're a little

11:33

heavy-handed with those votes

11:35

there we'll have to see how that turns

11:37

out and something great about this

11:39

community is the Adaptive division we

11:41

want hosting the games this year what's

11:42

it mean to you Tom oh this is so

11:44

exciting you know I love that CrossFit

11:45

is all about Community right and it

11:47

really is for everybody but more than

11:48

that it's for everybody right and behind

11:50

the resources of wheel lad and knowledge

11:53

and Decades of experience they've had

11:54

combined with the resources from uh

11:56

CrossFit I think this year is going to

11:58

be groundbreaking for what we see as

11:59

adaptive athletes in the future and what

12:01

CrossFit entails for everybody as they

12:03

move forward in their life that's right

12:04

let's take a look now at what their road

12:06

to the games is going to look like in

12:09

the 2024 season it is being run by wheel

12:12

wad we'll have three stages the final

12:15

week this week of the open followed by

12:17

semifinals and then the games in San

12:20

Antonio Texas September 19th through the

12:23

22nd first time out there ever it's

12:25

going to be an exciting race but some

12:28

other races we're going to be looking at

12:30

is the age groups the teen and the

12:32

Masters division some really tight races

12:35

at the top that it's all going to come

12:37

down to the final wire for them that

12:40

certainly is and as we take a look over

12:41

at our men's 16 to 17 division we might

12:44

see a familiar name there RJ MRE from

12:47

proven yeah right proven athlete homeboy

12:50

here right already off to a commanding

12:52

start I don't know what they're feeding

12:53

them down here in Nashville but RJ's

12:54

already taken home a victory in 24.1 and

12:57

a victory in 24.2 a little unprecedented

13:00

here we have never seen an Adaptive or

13:01

excuse me an able-bodied athlete take

13:03

home a clean sweep of open Victory so RJ

13:05

is poised and primed he was third place

13:07

in the uh games last year so I have a

13:10

feeling he's on the move to make up a

13:11

couple spots this year we'll see if he

13:13

can repeat your three for three okay on

13:15

taking a look now at the men's

13:18

45-49 division Richard vent he's putting

13:22

on quite a performance Adrien he is he's

13:24

only got 13 points so far Richard vent

13:26

has a first place and a 12 go place and

13:30

it's a very storied category to be a

13:34

part of but we do know this Lauren we

13:35

know that he or she is fittest who has

13:38

the best score across all events so he

13:41

still got one more week to prove his

13:42

Fitness and I'm going to tell you he was

13:43

at the games in 2019 and I bet he's

13:45

pretty hungry to get back let's turn now

13:47

to the ladies we're going to first look

13:49

at the 14 to 15 age group division the

13:53

woman at the top of the leaderboard

13:54

right now a newcomer Kira mcmanis yeah

13:58

first in the open a young 14 years old

14:01

and she's already making a statement

14:02

that she may be a name that we're going

14:03

to watch for years to come a victory in

14:06

24.1 followed by a smooth third place in

14:09

24.2 want to see how 243 plays out but

14:12

again a name we're not going to forget

14:13

soon on the contrary the

14:16

35-39 division Adrien it is somebody who

14:19

we have seen a long time in the space

14:21

Kristen hola no surprise there yeah it's

14:23

not a surprise at all what she's doing

14:25

right now is continually reminding us

14:27

that athletes in this age group can go

14:30

toe-to-toe with the elite individual

14:32

competitors and I'll say it's not always

14:34

a friendly reminder to someone else that

14:36

shares the same age as some of these

14:38

competitive athletes but she's certainly

14:40

putting on a show so far and I think

14:41

she's just getting started this year she

14:43

is I can't wait to see more from her and

14:45

as for that road to the games it's a

14:46

little different for the Masters and

14:48

teens this year is they will host their

14:50

own Championship outside of the elite

14:53

individuals and teams let's take a look

14:55

they go from the Open final week this

14:58

week follow followed by the top 25%

15:00

advancing to quarterfinals then

15:03

semifinals and finally their

15:27

version

15:57

e

16:18

let's take a look at what is on to

16:20

before we can get there we are recapping

16:23

24.2 looking at the announcement

16:26

24.3 and then we will have today two

16:30

Heats first a community heat is going to

16:33

take on the workout and then we will

16:35

have our games athletes take on

16:37

24.3 and finally for the third week in a

16:40

row we will have that golden barbell

16:43

award something new this year for the

16:45

community and our

16:50

athletes and now we have all been doing

16:53

the open for a different amount of time

16:55

as as the community but how long when

16:58

was your first one do you have a

16:59

favorite memory Tom we start with you oo

17:01

all right well I've been this is going

17:02

to be my eighth year in the CrossFit

17:03

Games ex CrossFit open excuse me um yeah

17:06

17.1 was my first open workout so when

17:09

we saw dumbbell Sanchez again in 24.1 I

17:11

was humbly reminded of where I came from

17:13

right um you know I remember sitting

17:15

down and doing 17.1 and thinking like

17:17

I'm not really sure what I'm doing what

17:18

am I getting myself into but I also

17:20

wasn't really expecting what I was going

17:21

to be going towards right and being here

17:24

a part of the community it's so electric

17:25

it's so fun and you know the Vibes I had

17:27

for 24.1 even 24.2 it's it's still just

17:30

as exciting as the first day I joined

17:32

Adrian what's it been like for you over

17:33

the years well goodness I was around

17:35

back when 11.1 drop the very first

17:38

CrossFit open workout so not to age

17:40

myself but I've been around for a minute

17:41

listen the the thing that stands out to

17:43

me about the open are are three words

17:45

predominantly nerves fear and pain and

17:49

uh The beauty within those three words

17:51

is that we all lean into them together

17:53

to kind of find out what we're made of

17:54

and see what's on the other side of

17:56

those things so I think that that's one

17:57

of the beautiful things about the Unity

17:59

that it creates across these three weeks

18:00

the glue that binds us community and

18:02

pain all tied with a bow that's right

18:05

let's take a look now at the overall

18:07

standings after

18:10

24.2 what we have is for the men eight

18:13

of these men in the top 10 they are all

18:16

games athletes but Adrien in third who

18:19

the heck is kale Layman kale Layman I

18:22

wish I could tell you more about him

18:23

it's only a second year in the CrossFit

18:25

open but he's sitting in third place

18:27

overall with a 10th and an 18th and when

18:29

I did a little digging he's an army

18:31

Cadet so he's active and he's doing the

18:33

thing right now and he's amongst some

18:35

Elite competition we've got Alexander

18:38

coron sitting in first place and this

18:41

isn't foreign territory to Alexander

18:43

we've seen him at the CrossFit Games

18:44

before but last year he had to pull out

18:46

early from semifinals so my biggest

18:48

question mark for him isn't his Fitness

18:51

it's his durability can he hold on to

18:53

this type of intensity and consistency

18:54

throughout the duration of the Season

18:56

let's turn now to the women's overall

18:59

standings

19:01

leaderboard oh no listen don't forget

19:03

about D pepper he is there and this is

19:06

our fittest American male he finished

19:07

fifth at the CrossFit games last year

19:09

and what I love most about seeing D here

19:11

in second place is that he finished top

19:13

10 in the open last year and he's not

19:15

just coasting through this thing it's

19:16

not about quarterfinals it's not about

19:17

semi-finals it's about right now he is a

19:19

competitor and he came to win the

19:20

CrossFit open in 2024 now can never

19:22

forget about D pepper now we will look

19:25

at the women's overall standings after

19:27

two workouts in the CrossFit open

19:30

Australian athlete Gracie Walton 12

19:33

points ahead of the second best place

19:35

Tom yeah you go Gracie this is so

19:37

exciting to see for her Gracie is's

19:39

coming off of an eighth place finish in

19:40

24.1 and an Stellar third place finish

19:43

here as you can see in

19:45

24.2 Gracie last year finished six at

19:47

the Oceana semi-finals where they only

19:49

took the top three so it's slim pickings

19:51

but for her the fact that she's already

19:52

moving so well through the open bodes

19:55

pretty well for the momentum that she's

19:56

going to gain going in the quarterfinals

19:57

and hopefully semis even more fun to

19:59

watch yet too second third and fourth

20:01

place they're all one point apart from

20:02

each other and a familiar name that

20:04

we're going to see today Ariel Owen

20:05

right in fourth place right now and

20:07

maybe her 243 performance today make

20:08

ball herur to the top tight races

20:10

anything can happen and to celebrate

20:13

another fantastic open go Ruck is taking

20:16

20% off all Footwear now through Sunday

20:20

use code CF open 24.3 or scan the QR

20:24

code to automatically apply the discount

20:27

at check

20:30

out take a look now at our season

20:33

schedule this is the final week of the

20:36

CrossFit open one workout left before

20:39

then

20:40

25% will advance to quarterfinals that

20:43

is up from past Year's which was just

20:46

10% after that April 3rd through the

20:49

22nd or excuse me May 8th through the

20:52

2nd June 2nd that is when we will have

20:55

semifinals the first stage where we will

20:58

see the these athletes in person and

20:59

then finally to the CrossFit Games

21:02

August 8th to 11th Fort Worth Dallas

21:05

it's going to be a good time down there

21:07

I can't wait to see what it's like yeah

21:09

it's going to be exciting go new new

21:10

venue new environment it's going to be a

21:12

lot of fun but something that we are

21:13

focusing on of course the open but

21:16

advancing to quarterfinals after those

21:18

scores are submitted Monday night then

21:21

we will find out who will advance to

21:23

quarterfinals you're going to make sure

21:25

that you register and you can also

21:27

purchase this great t-shirt that Adrien

21:29

Conway is repping I don't think that you

21:31

get his arms with the shirt though no

21:34

and in fact if I don't make sure I get

21:36

it together in this final week of the

21:37

open I'm going to have to give the

21:38

T-shirt back you do have to qualify top

21:41

25%

21:43

so quarter finals is next after the open

21:46

and it's exciting because we have got

21:48

one more workout on

21:57

tap 3 2 1

22:02

go yeah uhhuh take are you ready for the

22:06

BCE now are you ready for the

22:10

count I'm take

22:17

off quarterfinals coming up next that

22:20

virtual competition our second virtual

22:23

competition of the stage that top 25% of

22:26

all individuals teams and age groups

22:29

this year you will have 6 days to

22:31

complete the workouts that they give you

22:34

more information is going to be coming

22:36

off on that after we get through the

22:39

open now we will look at our golden

22:43

barbell award this is our third week

22:46

presenting this you can post a photo or

22:49

a video on social media explaining why

22:52

your pick represents the theme from each

22:54

week with the hash golden barbell award

22:58

the winner will be revealed each Monday

22:59

on the CrossFit Games podcast and

23:02

winners will win

23:03

$400 Rogue gift card now we're going to

23:07

send it over to chase Ingram revealing

23:09

last week's winner on the CrossFit Games

23:16

podcast but we do have our winner for

23:20

24.2 and this comes in from coach Shaz

23:24

out of CrossFit Epson in the UK and and

23:28

they nominated Andrew sarelli someone

23:32

who truly embodies dedication passion

23:35

and kindness in everything they do and

23:37

she goes to nominate Andrew sarelli our

23:40

very own golden-hearted paramedic who's

23:42

not only saving lives with an unwavering

23:45

commitment but also managed to be the

23:47

current fittest paramedic in Europe

23:50

Andrew congratulations it sounds like it

23:52

is welld deserved you are our week two

23:55

golden barbell recipient presented by

23:58

Road

24:00

Fitness another such deserving athlete

24:02

of this award I love that we're bringing

24:04

this into the community yeah

24:05

congratulations Andrew chiarelli we're

24:07

really excited for you and you know when

24:08

we think about the golden barbell award

24:10

I'm sure there's somebody at home

24:11

whether it's a coach or an athlete that

24:13

whenever we walk into our affiliate they

24:14

always kind of brighten the mood and

24:16

make make the experience just that much

24:17

more exciting and I think it's really

24:19

cool that we have this opportunity with

24:20

the golden barbell to actually highlight

24:21

some of those athletes in a more higher

24:23

level and this week we have standout

24:25

performance that is the theme for the

24:28

golden barbell award and we have people

24:30

putting in nominations right now you can

24:32

see on your screen through social media

24:35

so many different elements of people who

24:38

can get nominated for this Ross

24:40

Henderson right there in the middle he

24:42

looks like a good guy yeah he's got it

24:43

figure it out for sure it doesn't matter

24:46

if this is your first fifth 10th open

24:50

you can all be nominated for this those

24:52

standout performances that you have had

24:54

through the open and it is such an

24:57

incredible thing as we've been talking

24:59

about to add this element to our

25:00

community yeah no doubt something else

25:03

that we're having today is we have the

25:05

rise Foundation here and we are talking

25:08

with one of their athletes it is to help

25:10

teen girls Adrien Conway is on the floor

25:13

with

25:14

more I am joined here by Rachel Skinner

25:17

a member of the rise Foundation Rachel

25:20

in discussion you you told me that

25:21

you've been involved since day one can

25:23

you describe to us how rise came to be

25:26

uh yeah so rise came to be um Jeff palon

25:30

started it because he noticed that his

25:32

teenage daughter kind of went through

25:34

some stuff and she didn't really have

25:35

the resources that she needed to get

25:37

through those things so he started it to

25:39

provide resources as far as stuff like

25:42

nutrition um like mental coaching stuff

25:45

like how to you know be financially wise

25:48

um and just really kind of bring it all

25:49

together for like a One-Stop shop for

25:51

females that may not have resources to

25:54

that to have it I love it and you

25:56

mentioned that it was something that was

25:57

EX personal to you how did you find this

26:00

and get involved yourself um so I met

26:03

Jeff at the pit te throwdowns and he's

26:06

just kind of been a resource to me

26:08

throughout the whole thing I went

26:10

through some stuff a couple years ago

26:11

that really kind of affected me mentally

26:13

and he was there the whole time to kind

26:15

of help me get through it and provide me

26:17

the resources that I needed I love it

26:20

well you're also an athlete and you're

26:21

here on the competition floor going to

26:23

be one of the first people to take on

26:25

24.3 what are your thoughts and feelings

26:27

to be here right now

26:30

um I'm pretty

26:32

excited I'm hoping for a heavy barbell

26:35

gymnastics so yeah okay well we'll see

26:39

what it is we're going to find out in

26:40

just a second and good luck I'm sure

26:41

you'll crush it back to you Lauren

26:43

inspiring story there and as we've been

26:45

mentioning we are inside fuen HQ they've

26:48

been around since 2020 but this facility

26:50

only here for the last month and a half

26:53

and we were able to get a sneak peek

26:54

before the grand opening on

26:57

Saturday

27:00

welcome to CrossFit proven our gym is

27:03

22,000 Square ft our affiliate space

27:06

being the largest portion of the gym I

27:08

think what we're trying to do and what

27:10

we're going to do a conscious effort of

27:11

is grow a community and be more than

27:14

just a pro space we invite everyone who

27:17

are just trying to improve their health

27:19

and have the Visions to be become better

27:21

version of themselves we want to work

27:23

with them and help them achieve their

27:27

goals

27:29

and to see the entire video you can go

27:31

to our CrossFit Games YouTube channel

27:35

crowds out there getting pumped up and

27:37

ready for today as we now take a look at

27:41

who is going to be throwing

27:45

down here are our CrossFit Games

27:48

athletes you have Roman krenov and Ariel

27:50

loen both took third at the CrossFit

27:52

games last year Jay Crouch he is a

27:55

rising athlete out of Australia for 28th

27:59

to eth and then finally last but not

28:01

least Sydney Wells last year she made

28:04

her rookie debut and a great debut that

28:07

was right and as we look at these four

28:09

athletes today they're following their

28:11

success last year as they move into the

28:12

24 2024 open the season Sydney Wells

28:15

here sh off 24.2 again she's dare I say

28:18

proven herself to be ready for the

28:20

quarterfinals looking smooth uh

28:22

improving greatly on her score from 241

28:24

in 242 and her placing comfortably

28:27

looking into quarterfinals moving on we

28:29

have Mr Roman krenov there comfortably

28:31

sitting right now in 27th Place that

28:33

first workout a little bit longer

28:35

workout with that dumbbell going so high

28:36

overhead for a tall athlete like him but

28:38

a Seventh Place finish here in 24.2 like

28:41

I said has him 27th overall and sitting

28:43

pretty looking into

28:45

24.3 there she is Miss Ariel Owen in her

28:48

Lion's Den Ariel sitting fourth place in

28:51

the open open overall right now again

28:53

third place on the podium of the games

28:54

last year it's no surprise to see her at

28:56

the top in the open right now a 21st

28:59

place in 241 and a fourth place finish

29:01

in

29:03

[Music]

29:04

242 and Mr Jay Crouch himself again Jay

29:08

not backing down from his amazing

29:09

performance at the games last year

29:11

currently seventh in the open a 13th

29:13

Place in 241 again those burpees looking

29:16

flawless over there pretty jealous not

29:18

going to lie and a 27th Place in 242

29:21

we're excited to see what Jay does not

29:22

only today but moving forward to the

29:23

rest of the season and right now they're

29:26

in the goad warmup area uh no idea

29:28

what's in store for them so they got to

29:30

make sure everything's mobile it's

29:32

CrossFit it's all about the unknown and

29:33

unknowable right so what's fun for these

29:35

athletes it's three of them actually are

29:37

participating in their first open

29:38

announcement today so I'm sure there's a

29:40

lot of extra adrenaline running through

29:42

those veins right now and it's only

29:43

going to help their 24.3 score be a

29:45

little bit better than maybe they were

29:47

planning so excited to see how they do

29:48

today and Adrian you're a goad guy

29:51

right well listen I've been using it for

29:54

the last year I'll tell you that Lauren

29:55

and and and to be honest with you I'm no

29:57

spring chicken so so I understand the

29:59

value of good warm-ups and cool downs

30:01

and for me I love the value because even

30:03

like the situation these guys are in

30:04

right now if I don't know what is coming

30:06

up I can still prep and warm up a

30:08

general body region and get ready for

30:10

whatever is to come yeah looks good over

30:12

there we caught up with these athletes

30:13

earlier in the week let's hear what they

30:15

had to

30:18

say this will be my first open

30:20

announcement I'm super excited for the

30:22

opportunity um I think I just want to be

30:25

known for never giving up and always

30:27

making the most of the opportunities

30:29

that I've gotten there was a time when

30:32

um I just didn't want to do CrossFit

30:34

because I just didn't know if I could do

30:36

it and I gave it a shot and it's been

30:38

the best decision I've ever made so just

30:41

I want to be known for doing the best I

30:44

can with what I'm

30:47

given I feel like obviously I want to be

30:49

known as sort of like the one of the

30:51

best to come out of Oceana and and then

30:53

yeah hopefully be one of the best to do

30:55

it you know so that that's the goal so

30:57

that would be cool if that when it was

30:59

all said and done that it that it was

31:00

that but then yeah also like along the

31:02

way just like that super approachable

31:04

like friendly guy simple is that really

31:07

I'm hoping to yeah be on the podium at

31:09

the games this year that would be really

31:10

awesome so that's the

31:14

goal I have never done an open

31:16

announcement before but it's actually on

31:17

my bucket list and then to be asked to

31:19

do the final week of the open to me is

31:21

an even greater honor I do program for

31:23

myself so for me doing the open workouts

31:25

is like a way to test is my program in

31:28

good okay let me tweak some things see

31:30

if I can speed up my Burpee speed if I

31:31

do this different I'd love to get top

31:33

five in the open so that's the closest

31:35

goal that's coming up and then I don't

31:37

really have any goals

31:56

yet

32:26

e

32:56

e

33:26

e

33:56

e

34:26

e

34:56

e

35:26

e

35:56

e

36:09

welcome to the announcement of

36:11

24.3 presented by Joo go and Cho M we

36:16

are live

36:20

at an open announcement I'm Lauren khil

36:23

alongside Tommy AA we have Adrien Conway

36:27

he is out on the floor and Lauren if I

36:29

didn't know it was March right now I

36:31

would think it's Christmas Day all over

36:32

again I'm so excited let's get this

36:33

party

36:34

started athletes are now going to take

36:38

the field we will have two Heats a

36:41

community heat will take on 24.3 first

36:45

followed by our CrossFit Games athletes

36:49

will take on

36:51

24.3 after

36:56

them now to Dave

36:58

[Applause]

37:05

Castro for the announcement of

37:08

24.3 I'm going to send it over to Joo to

37:12

deliver this week's

37:17

pain hey what's going on y'all Joo here

37:21

from Joo Fuel and Crossfit and I'm

37:25

coming to you from victory MMA and

37:29

Crossfit here in San Diego California

37:31

where we just had a big fire and we are

37:34

rebuilding from that fire but luckily

37:37

our whiteboard in the CrossFit room

37:39

survives and good news on this

37:42

whiteboard I have got for all of you

37:45

CrossFit athletes around the world

37:47

workout 24.3 for the CrossFit

37:50

open so this is what we're doing four

37:53

time starting off with five rounds of

37:56

thrusters and chest to Bar pull-ups 10

37:59

thrusters 10 chest to Bar pull-ups five

38:01

rounds women on this first evolution

38:05

women at 65 lbs men at 95 lbs going to

38:08

do five rounds of that once we get done

38:11

there's one minute of rest catch your

38:13

breath once you got your breath back in

38:16

one minute it's going to be five more

38:18

rounds and this time it's a little bit

38:20

heavier we're doing seven thrusters

38:23

women at 95 lb men at 135 lb followed

38:28

Seven bar

38:29

muscleups five rounds of that and the

38:33

time cap for this whole thing 15 minutes

38:36

so guess what it's going to be a good

38:38

push that's what we got like I said it's

38:41

going to be a rough one it's going to be

38:42

a good push you know what to do go get

38:45

after it we'll talk to you

38:48

later Dave talks about pain I can't feel

38:50

my lats or my biceps right now no I was

38:53

just thinking my shoulders my shoulders

38:55

what are we going to do there's France

38:57

there's friendly FR there's whatever

38:59

this is Holy 243 this is going to be

39:01

quite a test he definitely Dave Castro

39:04

saving the best for last and who doesn't

39:07

love thrusters it is a staple in the

39:09

open but also to increase on weight

39:12

after you're fatigued yeah that's going

39:14

to be quite the challenge and and I

39:15

think if we've been there before the

39:17

minute rest in between our sets of five

39:20

rounds really isn't going to feel like

39:21

much of a rest if a chance to shake out

39:23

the hands maybe find the grip again

39:25

catch your breath for a minute but then

39:26

again trying to brace yourself and know

39:28

that the bar is about to get heavier and

39:30

the pull-up skills about to increase

39:31

even more this is quite a doozy of a

39:34

workout I think this is going to be a

39:35

full one for the whole community and you

39:37

can enter to win a VIP trip for two to

39:40

the 2024 CrossFit games use the QR code

39:44

to get all of that information but

39:46

before you take on

39:48

24.3 you want to make sure that you do

39:51

it right you hit all the standards

39:53

here's a take a look at

39:56

those

40:00

CrossFit Games open workout 24.3 begins

40:04

with five rounds for time of 10

40:17

thrusters and 10 chest to Bar

40:20

[Music]

40:23

pull-ups athletes will then rest a

40:26

minimum of 1 minute

40:29

after the one minute rest 24.3 concludes

40:32

with five rounds of thrusters at a

40:35

heavier

40:35

[Music]

40:44

weight and bar muscle

40:49

ups the entire workout is for time if

40:54

you complete all of the repetitions

40:56

under the

41:26

e

41:56

e

42:26

e

42:46

through the rest of their workout for

42:49

more experienced athletes you should

42:51

keep in mind that the first half of this

42:53

workout is supposed to be a Sprint

42:57

however some may also call it a trap if

43:01

you come out too hot there's not enough

43:03

rest to recover so move quickly but at a

43:07

pace that allows you to get right to

43:09

work on the next five rounds aim to

43:12

finish the first half of this workout in

43:14

about 3 to 7 Minutes maintain unbroken

43:17

thrusters in the first five rounds if at

43:20

all possible don't let pour pullup or

43:22

bar muscle up management ruin your

43:24

workout perform larger sets if you can

43:28

but not at the expense of long breaks

43:30

and smaller Thruster

43:32

sets less experienced athletes should

43:35

take one round at a time consider

43:38

breaking the thrusters in the first half

43:40

of the workout into two or three sets

43:43

this will keep your heart rate down and

43:46

ready to attack the

43:56

pullup

43:59

completing the first five rounds in this

44:01

workout is a huge win and for most this

44:04

should be the

44:06

goal well have fun and we will see you

44:09

on the

44:13

[Music]

44:14

leaderboard you can see more 24.3 tips

44:17

on the CrossFit Games YouTube channel

44:19

and in the CrossFit Games podcast after

44:21

the show and if you're interested in

44:24

learning about becoming a CrossFit coach

44:26

you can sign up for the CrossFit level

44:28

one course it's a great opportunity to

44:30

not just enhance your Fitness but also

44:32

take the first step in becoming a coach

44:36

Tom let's get to business let's do it

44:38

let's meet our four athletes out on the

44:39

floor today for our community heat over

44:41

there in Lane number one it's Rachel

44:43

Skinner she's our rise athlete that we

44:44

got a chance to meet a little bit

44:45

earlier today very accomplished a level

44:48

10 athlete in the CrossFit world so

44:49

we're excited to see how she throws down

44:51

in

44:52

243 Lane number two it's Mr Troy

44:54

Peterson we had the pleasure of meeting

44:56

Troy back back in 24.2 he's the

44:58

executive director of Valor Fitz which

45:01

was created to give veterans a

45:02

consistent place to go to rebuild their

45:04

confidence inside one uh and of onetime

45:08

events Lane number three is Brit

45:10

Harbaugh she is the wife of general

45:13

manager of cross proven Mitch Harbaugh

45:16

and put little bias here I'm excited for

45:17

her she's a registered neuromuscular

45:19

minor athlete within the Adaptive

45:21

CrossFit scene as well so go wheel wad

45:22

we can't wait to see how Brit does in

45:24

this test today

45:25

too and in Lane number four it's Mr

45:28

Ricky Shaw Ricky Shaw is a coach level

45:31

one trainer over at Dale Kings affiliate

45:34

the PSC he is a using his training and

45:37

his L1 to help his long-term recovery

45:39

we're excited to see Ricky and all four

45:41

of our athletes take on

45:43

24-3 let's send it on down to BOS now

45:46

our competition director on the

45:48

floor 10

45:55

seconds 3 2 1

46:01

go and they are off we are looking for

46:05

this first part to get to a 100 reps

46:08

between the thrusters and the chesa bar

46:11

pull-ups before that one minute rest and

46:14

then the final score will be 170 reps

46:17

today Tom what is our recipe for Success

46:21

presented by tra yeah the recipe for

46:24

this one is going to be smooth as fast

46:26

just like we heard talk about these

46:28

athletes here out probably need to break

46:29

up the the thrusters a little bit

46:30

earlier and break up these Chester bars

46:32

this is going to be a long workout for

46:34

them maybe not yet as experien in the

46:36

bar muscleup field yet so smooth as fast

46:38

early on the biggest thing here is trust

46:41

your training as well right you've spent

46:43

a lot of time working on the Kippy

46:44

motion of a pull-up you spend a lot of

46:46

time playing with thrusters in various

46:48

forms so trust that even as the bar gets

46:50

heavier or the pullup skill gets harder

46:52

that you have the foundations underneath

46:53

you and maybe today's the first day we

46:55

might see an athlete get a bar muscle up

46:57

and our leader in Lane one Rachel

46:59

Skinner she's off to a strong St into

47:01

her second round and Tom she actually

47:04

has gymnastics experience a former

47:07

gymnast of 10 years yeah well we heard

47:10

her she was hoping for a heavy barbell

47:11

and some gymnastics and she got most of

47:14

that right now you know that barbell is

47:15

probably pretty light for her at this

47:16

point but with how flawlessly she's

47:18

butterflying through these Chester bars

47:20

she's making good smooth work and I

47:22

loved how trans she was transitioning

47:24

through those thrusters a nice pause at

47:25

the top not overdoing it and is staying

47:28

composed throughout these first five

47:29

rounds and Ricky Shaw close behind her

47:32

in the lane the far Lane all the way to

47:34

the right he is advancing into his now

47:37

third round along with

47:40

Skinner yep we see Brit there also in

47:43

Lane number three and I want to give a

47:44

little more attention to Brit so as I

47:46

mentioned Brit is a neuromuscular minor

47:49

athlete she is participating in the

47:50

Adaptive CrossFit Games as well she's a

47:52

member of the wheel wad season she is uh

47:54

has already battled and beaten both

47:56

brain and and breast cancer what an

47:58

incredible story she has been and I was

48:00

want to give a little bit more

48:00

background because what does it mean to

48:02

be a neuromuscular athlete right there

48:04

are 15 total divisions within the

48:06

Adaptive crossfits here three of them

48:09

come from neurom uh neuromuscular

48:11

disorders when we think about a

48:12

neuromuscular disorder we're talking

48:14

about an athlete that has an issue

48:16

between connecting the nerves and the

48:17

muscles right and in this case with

48:19

brin's experience with breast uh brain

48:21

cancer she has impairment to her ability

48:24

to move we might see this become more

48:26

and more affected as she gets more en

48:28

tired uh more into the workout a little

48:30

bit more tired the intensity starts to

48:32

grow and within her disability we have

48:34

three tiers of neuromuscular there's a

48:36

minor a a moderate and a major division

48:39

so Brit is competing in the minor

48:41

division where she's going to have a

48:42

minor impact on how she's going to move

48:45

based on her disability enough so that

48:47

it will impair her enough to be

48:49

considered an Adaptive athlete but not

48:51

so much that she's in the moderate

48:52

division yet or maybe even in in the

48:54

major division you may see other disabil

48:57

such as cereal py

48:59

um uh muscular distopy or maybe A

49:02

congenital or acquired brain injury as

49:04

well and Rachel Skinner she 70 reps in

49:07

100 reps to complete so she is almost

49:10

done with her four of five rounds before

49:12

she will take that one minute

49:15

rest again with how well she's staying

49:18

composed and moving through those

49:19

butterfly pull-ups I would have thought

49:21

we were already on the elite heat not

49:22

going to lie those chessar they look

49:24

absolutely beautiful the way that she

49:26

has the speed of the rep but also behind

49:29

her is Shaw he is in our far Lane Ricky

49:32

Shaw he's starting his fourth round

49:35

right now yeah moving to the fourth

49:36

round and as we mentioned it's about

49:38

being smooth cuz clearly coming out of

49:40

the gates too hot in this workout is

49:41

going to spell some trouble for us later

49:43

on especially as the barbell gets

49:44

heavier especially as the pullup gets

49:46

more complex right it's about staying

49:48

composed and knowing that we got to be

49:50

smooth through these five rounds cuz

49:51

there's five more that are going to be

49:53

far more difficult ahead of us and

49:55

keeping in mind that all of these

49:56

athletes are performing The Workout RX

49:59

at this point yeah we're really it's

50:01

really cool to see that you know again

50:02

hopefully you see some epic bar

50:04

muscleups coming up here in a few rounds

50:06

and one thing to mention too is that as

50:07

Brit is competing in the wheel wad

50:10

adaptive CrossFit series she's actually

50:12

using a little bit lighter barbell but

50:13

that's based on her neurom uh

50:15

neuromuscular minor division standard so

50:17

she actually has a 55lb barbell right

50:19

now and will Vault up to an 85lb barbell

50:22

for the second half of the thrusters and

50:23

Rachel taking a break right now this is

50:25

her last and final set of 10 chest bar

50:28

pull-ups before she will advance to her

50:31

one minute rest before we add some

50:33

weight on the barbell and head into her

50:35

bar muscle up y four three two just two

50:39

more to go looking really smooth going

50:41

to be under maybe close to under 5

50:42

minutes here she can fight through

50:44

knowing she got that minute rest to help

50:45

her reset 2 1 and there it is

50:49

unofficially she will now rest until

50:52

547 we love Troy here in Lane number two

50:55

hey singles is the way got got to go you

50:57

just do singles but he's getting that

50:58

chest to the bar every time using an

51:00

effective Kip and again we're seeing a

51:01

great display of how this workout can be

51:03

functional for all of us no matter our

51:05

our backgrounds are upbringings and for

51:07

viewers at home keep in mind that that

51:09

time the one that Rachel Skinner just

51:11

completed that is going to be your tie

51:13

break time if you're somebody that might

51:16

be looking at bar muscleups you might

51:18

get your first one you might not have

51:20

them yet that is going to be a time that

51:22

you want to focus on we can still see

51:25

our three athletes out there still

51:26

working to get to that minute time

51:29

rest again Tim tro excuse me Troy still

51:32

pulling away with those single single

51:33

chest of bars getting him done Brit also

51:36

same concept trying to use that big nice

51:37

Kip she's got three to go in this

51:40

round and Rachel about 5 seconds until

51:43

she starts her five rounds of seven

51:46

thrusters Seven bar muscle ups and she

51:49

is under way important to note too you

51:52

can see that Rachel started underneath

51:54

her pull-up bar when she went back so

51:56

please keep in mind when you read those

51:57

standards you're going to be starting

51:59

underneath the pullup bar both at the

52:00

beginning of the workout and when you go

52:02

to start your sixth round on the heavier

52:03

barbell and that barbell has advanced it

52:06

started at 65 lbs for the first five

52:08

rounds now it is increased to 95 lb on

52:12

the barbell she's moving it just as

52:14

smooth as she did with that 65 I

52:15

wouldn't have thought anyway was added

52:16

to it with how well she's moving that's

52:18

a great move by Rachel so far well now

52:21

Tom something I'm curious to see is how

52:23

or if she breaks up her bar muscleups

52:25

here sets of seven each round that's a

52:27

big number right I mean you think that

52:29

the elite Heats they're they're probably

52:31

looking at that number like that's a

52:32

nice little warm up set but for most of

52:33

us right seven is a big number and let

52:35

alone doing it five times in a row so I

52:37

wouldn't be surprised to see Rachel as

52:39

she broke up her chest of bars break

52:41

these up and probably break them up more

52:42

and more often so again we'll have to

52:44

see here if Rachel's got him in the tank

52:46

and again we're already 5 minutes into

52:47

working out so it could be a whole new

52:49

burden oh no problem for Rachel oh no

52:52

she catches so love that you can

52:55

definitely tell the gymnast her is alive

52:57

and well and loving this workout this is

52:59

her best way of saying thank you to Mr

53:00

Castro himself right here and just to

53:03

keep in mind we are just over the 7

53:05

Minute Mark there is a 15minute time

53:08

half for this one oh and a pullover

53:11

might as well do the pullover I do the

53:12

first round yeah showing off those 10

53:14

years of gymnastics experience big style

53:17

points Rachel nice job I wish those

53:19

would count for your score but sadly not

53:21

no so she's done with one of her five

53:24

rounds about 7 and 1 half minutes in for

53:26

that 15-minute time cap our other three

53:29

athletes still working on part one as

53:32

they chip away to reach 100 reps yep we

53:35

see tro uh excuse me Ricky here Lane

53:37

number four fighting through his last

53:39

round of thrusters on this first half of

53:40

this workout he's got four to go again

53:43

still locking out nice and Tall staying

53:45

smooth catching his breath love him

53:47

embracing that core at the top of the

53:48

rep and I got to love that I point out

53:52

again staying composed and just trying

53:53

to catch his breath this is a a workout

53:56

where in the first five rounds we want

53:57

to push hard we want to be fast we want

53:59

to be aggressive but kind of like that

54:00

Row in 24.2 we have to be smooth and be

54:03

aware of what we're capable of doing and

54:05

let's go down out to the FL with Adrien

54:07

Conway for an

54:08

update yeah I'm down here on the floor

54:11

guys and as you can see this is not

54:13

something that's completely foreign to

54:14

our community day in and day out Troy

54:16

made the choice to start as prescribed

54:18

but it just wasn't in the tank today he

54:20

asked for some water a few minutes ago

54:22

needed to stay hydrated he's feeling a

54:24

little bit run down but he's still

54:25

staying in the F all he did was scale

54:27

his barbell down to an empty load

54:29

something he knew he could continually

54:30

hold on to for bigger sets and this is

54:32

going to allow him to hit the stimulus

54:34

of the workout and still progress out

54:36

there with his peers I think this is a

54:37

great example of how to scale for life

54:41

and what I love about that too is this

54:42

truly is something that you would see in

54:44

your local affiliate Tom I know you

54:46

coach CrossFit classes I do as well and

54:48

you have to do what's right for the

54:50

athlete absolutely and when you think

54:52

about this workout I mean if you think

54:54

about if you've ever done Fran before

54:55

this is a high skilled version of Fran

54:58

right there's a lot more to it a lot

54:59

more intricacy and a lot more High skill

55:01

required so when we think about Fran

55:03

being a high-intensity workout make sure

55:04

you're scaling the workout to a point

55:06

where you can still Embrace that high

55:07

intensity if it means a lighter barbell

55:09

if it means going to Jumping pull-ups or

55:11

jumping chest to bars give yourself that

55:13

opportunity to push yourself and find

55:15

that kind of heart rate in your throat

55:17

feeling I know it's a weird thing to say

55:19

but we all kind of love it don't we we

55:21

do that's why we all keep doing it

55:24

Rachel Skinner she is now just to rep

55:26

away from completing her two of five

55:29

rounds yep and we see Brit here

55:31

finishing off her last round of

55:33

thrusters in the first half this workout

55:35

moving through again those chest bars

55:37

prove to be a tough movement right

55:38

getting that chest just a little bit

55:40

higher and just having to pull a little

55:41

bit farther than chest virus a little

55:43

bit more than maybe we're always ready

55:44

for and Skinner now will approach her

55:47

barbell as she heads into her third of

55:49

five

55:51

rounds Rachel looking really smooth so

55:53

far I mean it's pretty cool and you get

55:55

to say that you are the current overall

55:57

leader in 243 let's see if she can get

55:59

this one done well and I love it she's

56:01

got a smile on her face right now

56:02

looking around at the crowd it's

56:03

something that is truly a lifetime

56:06

experience to be out here and have

56:08

everybody cheering you on at an open

56:09

announcement oh I know it's it's so fun

56:11

I mean even just being here being able

56:13

to call it and seeing this place built

56:15

to have this small box Community feel I

56:17

mean this is what we all live for right

56:19

I can remember 17.1 feeling the exact

56:21

same way and just having the crowd

56:22

around us and achieving things I never

56:24

thought I would and here we are seeing

56:25

Rachel do it today

56:26

and again another point this is Brick's

56:28

first ever year in CrossFit this is her

56:30

first ever open announcement let alone

56:33

first ever open workout or excuse me

56:35

open Series right 24.3 is her third ever

56:38

open workout but uh you know she's doing

56:40

everything she can right now we could be

56:42

prder of all four of these athletes yep

56:44

and then as we turn to Lane number four

56:47

we have Ricky Shaw who is now starting

56:50

his second part of the workout with

56:53

these seven thrusters at the second

56:55

weight which is one 135 for the men and

56:58

then followed by Seven bar muscle yeah

57:00

and again we see Ricky going into

57:01

singles and honestly we can't be a

57:03

little bit surprised here this barbell

57:05

is going to feel a lot heavier than even

57:06

the 135 reads to be right our arms

57:09

already blown up our core has already

57:10

worked really hard and having a hoist

57:12

that thing overhead is going to take a

57:13

lot more physicality than we know even

57:16

looking forward the bar muscleup is

57:18

going to be the first bottleneck

57:19

movement that we have in the open right

57:21

this is going to be the one where if you

57:23

get a bar muscle up you are going to be

57:24

vaulting yourself so so far off that

57:26

leader board because let alone the

57:28

stimulus you're under at that point to

57:29

get a bar muscle up but to do it here is

57:32

something pretty special doing it here

57:34

is the ultimate stage for some of these

57:37

athletes to potentially get one for the

57:38

first time yeah and you know and shout

57:40

out to all of our affiliate owners back

57:41

home I know it's been a long couple

57:43

weeks of lots of setups and busy nights

57:45

on Friday Night Lights last week was a

57:47

crazy long workout with multiple uh

57:50

pieces of equipment needed and I really

57:52

hope for your sake and for your members

57:53

at home that you get to see some bar

57:54

muscs for the first time either tonight

57:56

tomorrow or any point this

57:59

weekend and Rachel just hipping away at

58:01

those bar muscleups as she completes

58:03

those she will have two rounds left with

58:07

just about 3 minutes left in the workout

58:09

until that 15minute time cap yep and we

58:12

see Brit just behind Ricky here taking

58:14

her minute rest she's moved on to the

58:15

second half of the workout again

58:17

starting underneath the pullup bar

58:19

please don't forget that you got to both

58:21

start the workout under the pull-up bar

58:22

walk forward 5 ft to your Thruster bar

58:26

at the minute rest go back underneath

58:27

the pull-up bar and at the minute rest

58:30

walk back forward to your Thruster bar

58:32

and There She Goes skanner will advance

58:34

to that barbell to begin her fourth

58:38

round we see Troy just finishing up his

58:40

last round of thrust or ex me his fourth

58:42

round in the of thrusters again making

58:44

that smart move playing safe and making

58:46

sure that he's not overdoing himself or

58:48

over taxing it and allowing himself to

58:49

keep moving by adjusting the weight to

58:51

an empty barbell and Britney Harbaugh in

58:54

the third lane she can now begin her

58:57

second series of this workout the seven

59:00

thrusters Seven bar muscle ups again

59:02

weight has increased to 95

59:05

pounds yep see her getting set again

59:08

when we think about a neuromuscular

59:09

athlete there's going to be some points

59:11

where the nerves and the muscles don't

59:13

coordinate right we might see some

59:14

spasticity or some extra tension in the

59:17

muscles that we can't necessarily

59:18

control so for Brits be out here doing

59:21

this and handling this workout again

59:23

another awesome Testament of what

59:24

CrossFit can provide for anybody in this

59:26

world yeah Skinner taking a deep breath

59:28

now as she chips away and it's

59:30

noteworthy to see how efficiently she

59:33

was moving the barbell at first and the

59:35

bar muscle ups but still gets slowed

59:38

down as we progress to the workout it

59:40

makes me a little scared of when I'm

59:42

going to tackle this one Tom yeah and

59:44

again we see Ricky just finishing in his

59:46

first set of thrusters on the heavier

59:48

barbell and again like we talked about

59:49

this is that bottleneck moment can we

59:51

see Ricky get a bar muscle up and again

59:53

probably separate himself from a good

59:55

portion of his feet

59:56

moving into the end of 243 and we now

59:59

have 1 minute left until that time cap

60:02

come on Ricky there it is all right

60:05

Ricky great pull through really nice

60:08

wide grip on that bar using his lats and

60:10

driving his hips up two smooth bar

60:12

muscleups again that alone is going to

60:14

be a separator not even just getting one

60:15

but getting two we've got about 45

60:17

seconds left I like to believe he's got

60:18

a few more in the tank yet but let's see

60:20

how these athletes finish up this

60:22

workout Rachel Skinner there she's

60:24

trying to finish up her fourth round

60:27

with just about 30 seconds

60:30

left we can see Brit over there in Lane

60:32

number three taking to the barbell

60:34

seeing if we can Al or excuse me to the

60:36

pullup bar trying to get that bar muscle

60:37

up come on Brit oh a good fight it's

60:41

about being patient with that pole I

60:42

know at this point our lats are blown up

60:45

and Skinner just four reps left jumping

60:48

up on the bar with about 10 seconds left

60:50

crowd's getting loud we got 10 seconds

60:51

to go here folks whether you're at home

60:53

finish the round whether you're watching

60:55

whether you're learning let's cheer him

60:56

on let's bring him home oh and one in

61:03

time what a great way to kick off the

61:06

final week of the open a fight all

61:09

diverse backgrounds Tom that was fun to

61:12

watch that was quite the workout right

61:15

there yeah I think uh Fran has been

61:17

redefined if you will right that one was

61:19

a doozy fun to watch these athletes did

61:21

a great job and uh you know couldn't be

61:24

prder to be able to hear talk about them

61:25

out in before and she still got a smile

61:28

on her face out there taking a deep

61:30

breath given high fives Tom let's go

61:33

through now exactly what happened from

61:35

the beginning of the 15 all the way up

61:37

to the end right taking a look at our

61:39

replay here again all the all these

61:42

athletes coming out hot see all four of

61:44

them moving through those struers again

61:45

trying to stay composed we saw Rachel

61:47

feeling really comfortable with that

61:48

barbell that light barbell was something

61:50

she was asking for barbells in

61:52

gymnastics and she got exactly that

61:54

moved right under her butterly pullups

61:56

which were just awesome to watch again

61:58

that chest to Bar just effortless just

62:00

the way she's using her hips pulling

62:01

nice and tall and floating as your chest

62:03

is making contact with the bar she's

62:05

been unbroken for the first couple sets

62:07

and we saw Mr Ricky Shaw really

62:09

incredible performance from him as well

62:11

made smooth work in the 95lb bar and

62:13

again working through his thrusters to

62:15

get to that second set which was a big

62:17

tiebreaker I think moving forward in

62:19

this workout again we saw Rachel just

62:21

take command from beginning to end the

62:23

barbell that one that 95 bar for her Mo

62:26

just as well as it did for the 65lb

62:27

barbell just staying composed a nice

62:29

pause at the top and again just a

62:31

beautiful high pole a Great Kip with the

62:34

hips just catching so tight with those

62:36

bar muscleups you can definitely tell

62:38

the gymnast and her was loving this

62:39

workout made them look beautiful let's

62:42

take a look now at our results from the

62:45

first of four athletes to attempt

62:50

24.3 Rachel Skinner cap plus 17 wraps

62:54

Ricky Shaw

62:56

57 reps after that cap all of these

63:00

Great Performances and uh hopefully

63:03

Affiliates are able to look at this to

63:05

get a better idea of maybe what some of

63:06

their members are going to be able to

63:08

complete let's be honest I don't think

63:09

either of you either of us want to do

63:10

that workout six minutes after finding

63:12

out what it is anyway right that's a

63:14

pretty tall feet for these athletes and

63:15

they did a great job out there let's

63:17

head down now to the floor with Adrien

63:19

Conway to introduce our CrossFit Games

63:22

athletes our Heat

63:24

2 and now now from Crossfit proven 28th

63:29

in her rookie appearance at the CrossFit

63:31

Games Sydney

63:41

Wells from CrossFit Mayhem the third

63:44

fittest man on Earth gunning for nothing

63:47

shy but the top of the podium Roman

63:54

krop

63:57

[Applause]

64:01

and from the Lions then she finished

64:04

third at the 2023 CrossFit Games and

64:06

comes in as the defending fittest mother

64:09

on Earth Ariel

64:11

Lo when Maggie

64:12

[Applause]

64:20

walks this man is currently sitting in

64:23

seventh place overall in the worldwide

64:25

open he jumped from 28th to eth place in

64:28

the 2023 CrossFit Games it is J

64:32

[Applause]

64:41

Crouch and now we're here with the six

64:43

time fittest woman on earth TAA CLA Tumi

64:46

thank you so much for inviting us into

64:48

your new facility this is electric man

64:52

well thanks so much for coming y'all so

64:55

initial takes what do you think of 243 I

64:58

love it um definitely made the best

65:00

decision not to do it live um but this

65:04

is a fantastic workout to finish off the

65:07

you know open and these guys are going

65:10

to be able to put on a great showcase

65:12

which is exactly what we want when will

65:14

you do this one Tia I have to wait until

65:17

Monday give myself a few more days but

65:19

honestly it's this is like this would be

65:22

a dream to go against Ariel on any other

65:25

circumstance

65:26

um and you know I'm just I love it I

65:29

love this workout yeah some incredible

65:30

athletes that we'll get to see take on

65:32

but first let's toss it down to

65:37

BOS 10

65:41

[Music]

65:45

seconds 3 2 one

65:52

go and they're off they are going a lot

65:56

faster than what we will be doing as we

65:59

take on this workout

66:02

later yeah again making that barbell

66:05

look like there's nothing even on it

66:06

right now fast smooth efficient

66:08

movements throughout this Ariel loen and

66:10

Jay Crouch they're already on there the

66:13

transition time so quick and you know

66:16

like these weights are so nice and light

66:18

for these athletes it's one of those

66:20

things that they just want to make sure

66:21

they don't go out too hot because it's

66:23

really going to come down to the those

66:25

last couple of rounds uh on the chest uh

66:28

the bar muscleups and the heavier

66:30

thrusters Tom different recipe for

66:32

Success they we're looking at for this

66:34

seat yeah again a little bit different

66:35

we have a different mindset going into

66:37

this workout so first thing I talk about

66:38

was pulling down the bar and you may be

66:40

thinking about the bar muscle to the

66:41

chest bars but these athletes are going

66:43

to go unbroken on this first half

66:45

there's no denying it and some of them

66:47

are going to have to physically pull

66:48

that bar down on the thrusters to make

66:50

it faster that could be an easy way to

66:52

make up a few seconds on an AET that's

66:54

trying to be smooth and go

66:56

but realiz maybe I'm going too smooth

66:57

with it Ariel Len in the lead but Jay

66:59

crouches breathing down her neck as both

67:02

of these athletes are now into their

67:04

third of five rounds before their one

67:06

minute rest yeah again there's no

67:08

surprise here I you know I got some

67:10

buddies back home I probably think like

67:12

oh yeah this is a simple eom like no big

67:14

deal no they're going to go way faster

67:15

than that these athletes are about to

67:17

prove that this is going to be a workout

67:18

for uh a lot of pain like Adrian was

67:21

talking about earlier and you know what

67:23

the crowd here there are so many people

67:26

here cheering them on it just wants to

67:28

make like the adrenaline kicks in and it

67:30

intensifies everything that much more so

67:33

they're going so hard oh yeah and it's

67:35

just so incredible yeah I mean it's a

67:37

blessing and a curse right T you've been

67:38

there before you've been at the games

67:39

level and you know that it's fun because

67:41

you feel faster and you feel almost numb

67:43

when you're out there but in a workout

67:45

like this where there's a built-in

67:46

minute rest where we all know that that

67:48

minute rest is not a rest and often

67:50

times that's enough time for the elastic

67:51

acid to set in and it changes the whole

67:53

pace so maybe going out too hot can be a

67:55

problem you can see Ariel she's just

67:57

taken a little bit more of a breath she

67:59

started out nice and hot she is an

68:01

incredible athlete that will be able to

68:03

hold on for sure and now she's actually

68:06

settling into a really solid Pace that

68:07

she knows she can maintain and then you

68:09

can also notice the others that they're

68:11

doing very similar

68:13

things um you know we got Sid over there

68:16

she is absolutely crushing it and like

68:18

oh my God I'm so proud of her she you

68:21

know representing I'm obviously very

68:23

biased here representing proven out

68:25

there there and um doing it so well

68:27

let's go down to the floor to check in

68:29

with Adrien

68:30

Conway hey team we we have got we're

68:33

playing a game of inches here when you

68:35

look at the cycle rate of these Chester

68:36

bars you'll notice Ariel's elbows go

68:38

back and down Jays tend to stay straight

68:41

down through his rib cage and this

68:42

increases the cycle rate for Ariel just

68:44

oh so slightly every round even as they

68:47

slow through slowed throughout the five

68:48

rounds this allowed her to get there

68:50

just an edge over Jay Jay and Ariel both

68:54

taking it through those first five

68:56

rounds in under three minutes

69:00

256 oh my

69:02

gosh yeah um that's shocking to say the

69:05

least but I think even more shocking

69:08

fans what's going on here your boy Roman

69:09

kov still working out there right now I

69:11

thought you guys picked him to win they

69:13

did pick him to win but you never know

69:15

the workout this one minute is

69:17

definitely so important so whoever can

69:19

recover the fastest who can get back out

69:22

there he might be just holding back and

69:23

you know when it comes to that fourth

69:25

and fifth round in the sevens then you

69:28

know Roman may still have this so what

69:30

happens next they have their one minute

69:32

rest right now as Ariel and Jay are just

69:34

10 seconds away from beginning they're

69:36

now five rounds seven thrusters at 95

69:40

lbs for the ladies 135 for the Men

69:43

followed by Seven bar muscleups Tia

69:45

expecting to see everything unbroken

69:47

here yes now the thrusters are a lot

69:50

heavier than what they were on the very

69:52

first time however if you can be nice

69:54

and offici through the B loves and you

69:57

can hold on to for that bar you're

69:58

definitely going to be able to get

69:59

through these rounds a lot faster but

70:01

you will have to be sure not to overdo

70:04

it right and I love that that brings up

70:06

my second key success success for this

70:08

workout again was embracing the grip

70:10

right it's going to be a really grippy

70:11

workout here at this point and with that

70:12

heavier barbell you're going to want to

70:14

feel more inclined to grip the pull-up

70:16

bar harder on those bar muscles where

70:17

you have to try and stay relaxed and let

70:19

your body do the work for you and Roman

70:21

kov now into his second part of this

70:23

workout yeah and you can also see see

70:25

the difference between Ariel and Jay's

70:27

bar muscs Ariel has a little bit more of

70:29

a Glide up that's definitely going to

70:31

take a lot less tax on neur forearms um

70:34

and you tend to find I feel like a lot

70:36

of females do that more than males um

70:39

but it's they're it's a nail biter

70:41

between these two they they both really

70:43

want that gold bub I love that there's a

70:45

15-minute time cap these athletes aren't

70:47

going to need anywhere close to that

70:49

today not a chance and that was

70:51

something that we could expect right

70:52

from the getg oh and Jay and Ariel both

70:54

drop in that barbell for that set of

70:56

thrusters at the same exact time taking

70:58

a break before they both Advance onto

71:01

the bar muscle ups 120 reps out of 170

71:06

for this whole workout and I think it's

71:08

really important to note notice how long

71:10

of a pause they took between the

71:11

thrusters and the bar muss if you're

71:13

back home and thinking these athletes

71:14

when you think unbroken are just going

71:15

to not stop moving that is not the case

71:17

you can give yourself some time to

71:19

breathe give yourself a chance to recoup

71:21

and reset so when you get to that bar

71:22

you can at least hit maybe two or three

71:24

on broken bar muscles before to down

71:26

again

71:28

exactly and so the thing is is you know

71:30

in one of these competing situations

71:33

it's a matter of who's going to break

71:35

who and Jay has been very methodical in

71:37

every situation that he has taken he can

71:40

he's backing himself in the bar musop

71:42

and then when it comes to the thrusters

71:43

he knows that this is lightweight still

71:46

but you know weight that you can't take

71:48

for granted exactly but take a look now

71:50

in Lane number one Sydney Wells is tied

71:52

for reps with Ariel loan and Jake

71:55

they're all into the third round now so

71:58

it's a race between three

72:01

yep and you know it's it's going to be

72:04

on this round round three that's really

72:06

going to obviously be hurting for

72:09

everyone but this is where they're going

72:11

to be able to make the move and take

72:13

that first place you know being at the

72:15

statue that you are and having the

72:17

endurance you have with a barbell and

72:19

and a pullup bar are you in this kind of

72:21

a workout are you telling yourself to

72:23

try and build into these last few rounds

72:24

yet or you just trying hold an even pace

72:26

so it it is it is about obviously going

72:29

out nice and hard but not too hard that

72:32

where you blow up and so once you get

72:34

through your first five you obviously

72:36

would like to build in a little bit of a

72:38

buffer like Ariel did however you know

72:42

if you do go out too hot you can only do

72:45

as good as what you can now Ariel had to

72:47

break on her bu muff up if you can see

72:49

Sid is being so smooth and consistent

72:52

they they are though having break but

72:54

Jay just did it unbroken again and has

72:57

taken the

72:58

lead it honestly like I really think

73:02

that Jay's got it if he can just hold on

73:05

well again Jay currently sitting in

73:07

seventh place in the open right now an

73:08

eighth place finish at the games last

73:10

year and again we talked about it

73:11

earlier he's been at the game six times

73:13

four times with a team two times with an

73:15

individual and now here he is finally

73:17

breaking out in his what maybe a seventh

73:19

year at the games exciting to see him

73:21

perform and see how he finishes his

73:22

fourth round of bar

73:24

MUSC it's so hard not to yell right now

73:26

and just Che these guys on I know that's

73:29

what that's what a great teammate's made

73:30

of though we love that to you well then

73:32

even though Jay and Ariel are breaking

73:34

up in different ways they're still

73:35

managing to stay just within a reper two

73:38

of each other Jay jumps up first hitting

73:40

his second to last set of bar muscleups

73:43

here with four to go as Ariel prepares

73:45

to take on her second to last set Sydney

73:47

Wells also

73:49

advancing you know and Sid I so I

73:52

remember when Sid started coming into

73:54

the competitive seen in CrossFit and

73:56

obviously she's been quite exposed to

73:58

CrossFit for a few years but to actually

74:00

like dedicate her soul being to CrossFit

74:03

and you know making it to the games I

74:06

remember judging her in b m loves and

74:07

she would be doing singles and that was

74:10

only a couple years ago wow here she is

74:13

at a CrossFit open announcement

74:15

showcasing the world what it truly takes

74:18

and honestly it's like a proud mom

74:20

moment I was just going to say the mom

74:21

the mom Vibes are coming out strong

74:23

right now I love that I love that so

74:25

proud of her and jakay Crouch now taking

74:28

a further lead he is going for his last

74:31

set of bar muscle ups as Ariel finishes

74:33

her fourth round Sydney inching in on

74:35

her fourth round Roman finishing up his

74:39

third J Crouch last set of bar 850 on

74:41

the clock right now wouldn't be

74:43

surprised with five to go Jay might just

74:45

go unbroken here he know knows where

74:47

he's at right now again first ever open

74:49

announcement in workout put his name out

74:52

on top of the leaderboard let's see if

74:53

he can do it oh we got two left to go I

74:55

thought was going to do it I thought

74:57

going to do it come on there workout is

75:01

look at that and oh my gosh there it is

75:03

FKS J

75:05

9 The Unofficial time man let's go if I

75:10

get through the first five rounds in 10

75:11

minutes I'm going to be happy so let's

75:13

be honest Ariel loen and Sydney Wells

75:16

just seven reps left both of them going

75:18

for their final set of bar muscle ups

75:20

Ariel jumps first Sydney Wells chalking

75:22

up where athletes want to push right at

75:26

that Elite level that grit is always

75:28

running high and we're going to see

75:29

Ariel breaking after three reps four

75:31

reps come on Sid Sydney making work here

75:34

she's still three reps behind right

75:36

now Ariel probably very well aware where

75:38

she is though Roman moving through his

75:41

fourth round of Bar M picking up the

75:42

pace a little bit too quicker rep oh a

75:45

no rep for Ariel oh boy this could be

75:49

the window that Sydney needs to Edge her

75:51

out for the open

75:53

announcement

75:55

with two to go

75:57

one and as an athlete you are so focused

75:59

on yourself you know so like Sid

76:02

probably doesn't even realize what's

76:03

going on except for just focusing on how

76:06

much her arms are hurting she's only got

76:09

two more reps to go in Ariel loan an

76:11

unofficial 101

76:15

time Roman credit also finished 10:06

76:18

just ahead of Ariel loan apologies folks

76:21

we must have been a whole round behind

76:22

on Roman that whole time what an amazing

76:25

move he made there on that second half

76:27

that workout and that could be a mistake

76:29

in scoring we are going to check with

76:31

the official

76:33

results as Sydney Wells also just

76:35

finishes just under

76:38

1045 folks this was a fast one it was

76:42

and you know what Roman did a great job

76:44

if you know all that was actually legit

76:47

um in terms of like the the counting

76:49

there but he just did such a great job

76:52

in actually like starting out at a a

76:55

pace that he knew was going to allow him

76:58

to push in the end congratulations to

77:01

Jay Crouch look at these athletes still

77:04

smiling jay walking around yeah man I

77:07

wouldn't be walking but Tia you probably

77:09

[Laughter]

77:12

would let's take a look at what happened

77:15

in that last 10 minutes or so yeah again

77:18

we saw those Happ basically run to the

77:19

barbell to get this workout started

77:21

smooth effortless thrusters we like we

77:23

saw CH talk about it's got to be those

77:25

first five rounds that's exactly what we

77:26

saw again Sydney looking smooth strong

77:29

nice lock out at the top and the race

77:31

really came down to early on Jay and

77:33

Ariel in the beginning right almost rep

77:35

forre through the first five rounds and

77:36

even through into the second half the

77:37

workout as well but it was really Jay

77:39

Crouch who again as Adrian pointed out

77:41

kept that rep rep scheme a little bit

77:43

closer tighter to the bar right and able

77:45

to cycle those Chester bars and

77:46

eventually bar boun up a little bit

77:48

faster we saw Sydney Wells making a

77:49

great move in the later half of the

77:51

workout pushing through the more extreme

77:53

skill portion of the the work out faster

77:55

catching up on Ariel and again we see

77:57

Jay finishing out his last rep of the

77:59

thrusters here again smooth confident

78:02

work last two bar muscleups setting the

78:04

current fastest time in the world in

78:07

24.3 way to go

78:09

Jay let's take a look now at our overall

78:13

results of 24.3 with these four CrossFit

78:16

Games athletes J Crouch incredible

78:21

performance still over there talking to

78:23

BOS seems composed and

78:30

cool but what did social media say they

78:33

thought that Roman krenov was going to

78:35

win only

78:37

9% of the fans thought Jay Crouch was

78:40

going to take on Workout J the underdog

78:43

uhoh the underdog has come to play I

78:45

don't think he's going to be Underdog

78:47

much more after this an incredible

78:48

performance again backing up his

78:50

tremendous 2023 season a fantastic

78:53

performance here by Jay and 243

78:56

now let's take a look at your

79:00

results Jak Crouch

79:03

914 but then neck and neck was Roman kov

79:07

and Ariel loen 10:06 for Roman 1010 for

79:10

Ariel and then not too far behind Sydney

79:13

Wells as Tia had mentioned a lot of

79:16

improvements over the last couple of

79:17

years oh yeah

79:19

absolutely look at that that's so tight

79:21

six-time games athlete you made the jump

80:52

from 28th Place uh in 2022 to eighth

80:55

place in 2023 you're here you're proven

80:58

athlete proven

81:01

81:17

sure like uh the guys around me um I'm

81:19

super grateful for they all feel like

81:21

family straight away and um yeah to be a

81:23

part of something like this growing up

81:25

like start across it when I was 13

81:27

watching uh the open announcements like

81:31

Friday morning 7:00 a.m. in Australia we

81:33

have them um so yeah it's a big family

81:35

thing too like get up have a coffee

81:36

watch the open announcements to be to

81:38

finally be a part of one is unreal that

81:40

my family were up I think at like 5:30

81:42

82:00

quarters yeah I mean I'm yeah again

82:02

lucky to be here for the next 6 weeks um

82:04

I wasn't here thinking I was going to be

82:07

82:10

night T sort of filled me in a little

82:12

bit and um then I think it was like yeah

82:14

sort of official by then so pumped again

82:17

um six weeks here till quarter finals um

82:20

it's going to be awesome throw down with

82:21
