Transcripts
okay if you watch the video over on my
second Channel where I reviewed
Pinterest promoted products to find
scams well the plot is about thicken so
if you haven't seen that video you might
want to watch it okay so in that video I
bought a dress that was a promoted ad
off of Pinterest which side note
Pinterest promoted ads have went to the
dogs to the dgs I honestly would say
like 80% of them are scams but I digress
Ona Pinterest promoted ad it showed off
this blue dress which was reverse in the
sense of on the front it was like a
modest neckline it was up quite high and
then once you rotated it the back which
was now the front is like a low more
scandalous neckline and it also
highlights the fact that there's these
strings where you can cinch the waist in
it was
$36.99 and it said that it was
sustainably made and I mean Brands be
greenwashing like crazy but there was
nothing sustainable that I could see
from this dress and as soon as I clicked
publish on this video some of the
comments started to come in that that
video was in fact stolen and that dress
was actually sold by a company called a
ym studio and the real dress was
allegedly sustainable and ethical so I
had to check it out so let's find the
dress in question we believe that
clothing should stand the test of time
that's why our clothes are designed to
be timeless and are responsibly made by
skilled makers who care deeply about
quality you deserve to feel good about
the clothes you wear this is part of why
I wanted to do this sequel to that video
because I was impressed like genuinely
impressed with this company this is
definitely the person from the Pinterest
ad video so it was totally stolen from
one of their ads so this was the blue
there's the photo this is the exact
photo that was used on the Pinterest ad
as well so that's so frustrating like I
can only imagine actually I can't
imagine I am living it with the Mia
Maples Market merch every single thing
we've designed gets stolen like just
look Mia Maple's allergy seasoned
t-shirt merge casual no we never were
selling on Amazon even the grandma
Energy Design was stolen so yeah I know
what it's like to have your stuff stolen
and sold anyways back to this though so
I want to get into the fabric so it is
60% recycled polyester 35% polyester so
it's really cool that 60% of this dress
is recycled polyester we think 35%
recycled is a start but we are eager to
secure a higher percentage recycled
fabric that contains the durability and
stability of this fabric we're also
working to secure fully recycled fabric
options so it sounds like maybe they
started at 35 now they're up to 60
eventually might get higher the Garment
is sewn ethically in London UK and made
by expert sewing machinists paid above a
living
wage this a company that's doing it
right okay so 99 I think this is pounds
this dress is
$169 which that makes sense to me you
really cannot find sustainable fibers
and ethical production and make a $2
piece I truly truly truly think it's
impossible but you're paying for like
fantastic Fabrics making a difference
people are being paid ethically when
making it because a lot of the times too
with expensive brands that sell their
dresses for like $200 a lot of times
they won't be sustainable or ethical so
what are you paying that big price tag
for so this is pretty sweet not only are
we going to review it but we're going to
give the real dress its moment in the
spotlight we did this on the main
Channel Once with pieces that have been
stolen from Shen and timu I think it's
nice to give credit to the real person
who created it so a ym and I couldn't
help but notied when I open the box this
right here according to Fashion
Revolution only 2% of garment makers
earn a livable salary when you buy
ethical clothing like these ones you
help to support the fair living wages of
garment makers cuz then you know what
you're paying for you know I I cannot
wait to feel this dress I have High
Hopes oh my goodness it feels so
different first things first look at the
difference in the necklines also can I
just say it smells good kind of smells
like my mom oh my gosh the dress feels
so nice you guys I'm honestly so excited
because it's such a beautiful design and
even on the fake one the design was very
nice and Sleek but now having the
quality to go with it I'm excited since
it is such a thin thin soft fabric it's
actually a double layer here look two
layers so that it's not see-through oh
my gosh I have to go grab the other one
here's the fake $36 for this one you can
definitely see the quality difference
the fake one has a little bit of a shine
to it which is something I really see a
lot of in cheaper polyester fibers is it
will have this random shine to it which
sometimes can be nice but lots of times
I think it's kind of a giveaway of the
price
the fake one completely missed the mark
on the neckline like why is the neckline
so similar this is a difference in
neckline but let's see what they look
like on okay I have the real a ym dress
on and I am so happy to report that it's
awesome so the back tie up situation is
very similar so I definitely want to do
that because with the fake one it did
kind of like create sort of some
bunching so okay so I'm not going to go
too tight so it just hugs it in just a
tiny fit see I think that the double
layer is making a world of difference
there we go there it is cinched I like
it because the fabric is still laying
flat which with the other one which I'll
put on in a second it kind of starts
bunching and pulling there this one does
not here's what it looks like all laced
up on the back with the double layer on
the bodice it also goes into a double
layer on the bottom so there's like two
flowy skirts under here which really
adds to the swirlin of the skirt which
mimics the video way more I'm like oh my
gosh it looks so much like the video
it's because it's the one from the video
the only thing I'll say and this is
something that I have personally
experienced with my sweatpants as well
recycled polyester because it is
recycled it's many different pieces and
colors and tones put together sometimes
you can see that I can't really if I
look super super close there's like the
smallest little discoloration I'm being
so picky I can't even hardly see it I
can just see like the smallest little
disc coloration but seriously I am
looking so close I have like a
microscope on this now I want to flip it
around also this video is not sponsored
by a ym studio I just honestly have an
appreciation for companies that have
some morals and I wanted them to get
credit where credit is due and I
personally wanted the dress all right
here we are that is definitely a lot
different than the modest one cinching
just hugs in that waist I like the idea
of the Cinch I I kind of see these two
on the side a little bit kind of tied it
up not correct what's happening oh it
looks okay it's one of those sundresses
that kind of hugs the boot a little bit
you know it's kind of like clinging to
my body in a flattering way though in a
flattering way here's the scandalous
neckline I am so happy to actually see
that there's a difference between which
way you wear this dress because that was
the biggest frustration with the fake
one why were they the same both ways I
think the issue sometimes with
sustainable ethical clothing is it is
more expensive so not everybody can
afford it but I can honestly say If you
think this dress is pretty and you want
to save up for it I think this will last
you way longer than that other one I am
kind of shook with how they got the blue
right like I feel like they had the fake
had to buy it to find the proper blue
cuz it's pretty spoton in case you
forgot what this one looks like I'll put
it on should we jump into
[Music]
it all righty I wish you could feel this
I wish you could reach into the screen
and feel the difference because it's
pretty crazy the double layer is
everything the other fabric is like
ready to be pulled this one like it just
creates like all these lines yeah and
the back doesn't look as sorted I don't
know you can see it clear as day that
one versus this one there is
similarities about the look for sure
they have the color pretty spot on but
when it comes to the Quality I don't
think this one's lasting long even like
I haven't even worn this full and it's
already fraying at the bottom the real
one is a million times better it feels
better it was produced better and I have
a very strong feeling it will last
better and one of the main selling
features of the modest front and the
scandalos back actually is on the real
one and with that I think I can put this
chapter to bed I probably didn't need to
do a full-on video about this but I
wanted to so thanks for being here
