The narrator demonstrates a piston door and a player elevator using slime blocks, both designed to maximize the use of pistons. The sound of pistons has been changed in the update, which has caused a mixed reaction within the Redstone community. The new sound is described as mechanical and somewhat obnoxiously loud, especially when used in conjunction with a clock mechanism. The change in sound is highlighted as a significant departure from the previous 'glorious' piston sounds.
π Sound Comparison and Community Reaction to Piston Update
The narrator compares the old and new piston sounds, noting that while the original piston sound is still present, additional random clicking noises have been added. Transcripts
ah the all Glory Days of Minecraft the
launcher has now just been updated
immensely so we've got all this stuff
here this is actually the homepage the
launcher now has a homepage and then you
can select Java Bedrock Dungeons and
legends this is all celebrating 15 years
of Minecraft we got a lot of stuff that
you're going to get the new snapshot
patch notes are all over here which is
very organized and you'll notice that
the new snapshot that was released
yesterday 24 w2a has pistons in it now
you might be thinking oh no my's going
to ch change all of the mechanics and
break all the Farms all the machines
that I've made no they haven't they've
done something quite hilarious
scientific this is the latest snapshot I
didn't stream yesterday cuz I was very
busy if you want to obtain the new
twitch Cape you can wait for me when
I'll stream next week or you can look up
some other participating Minecraft
streamer who's going to be able to give
that to you of course you can subscribe
here as I outline all the new and
beautiful decisions that myang is making
for us so here's my test world I spent a
little time creating a couple of
Contraptions for you so here here is a
piston door that I made and this is a
player elevator using a slime machine
that is reversible so here is a 3X3
piston door using Pistons only no
observers cuz I wanted to maximize the
amount of Pistons that I was going to
use to absolutely accentuate the change
let me activate my resource pack that
brings back the old sound myang in this
snapshot have decided to change the
sound of Pistons you can make up your
mind how you feel about it I know the
Redstone Community is absolutely livered
out of their minds over this change
going to activate the lever going to
open the
door there we go going to close the door
very rudimentary mechanic so we've got
the lever that powers the three Pistons
over there three p over there that push
the blocks back and then down here we
just have a piston that brings down two
iron blocks and then this one brings up
the last iron block and then over here
we have a player elevator what I really
like about this design is it actually
creates a little hole for the play to
stand in while they elevate so here we
go I have this little cubicle that
pushes up because of the slime blocks
behind me and then this button right
here brings me back down the sound
Pistons make really highlight the
mechanical elements of the machines they
are producing all those that they form a
part of so here we have a simple clock
and I'm going to put a piston right next
to it the downside of Pistons is that
they are sometimes obnoxiously loud so
if you're walking away from them they do
soften inv volume but as you approach
them they can get a little bit annoying
especially if you have something like
this running through a clock which is
why moang decided in their latest
snapshot to change the sound possibly
forever meaning we will no longer hear
the Glorious sounds of Pistons opening
and closing doors this is what they've
done here we
go just going to let that sink in for a
moment
let me stand in here as
well it's brilliant is people have
likened it to Lego and something else
quite suspicious which I will not talk
about here because I don't want to get
banned of of this wondrous platform
Please Subscribe and let me just play
what it sounds like when I activate this
again
now if you listen very carefully the
Piston sound is still there but they've
added some random clicking from another
source which changes everything about it
it sounds actually you know what it
sounds like a
trapdoor so my question to you is this
does it sound like a actual Pistons or B
fish or C leave a comment
hey I'm a hey I'm a piston hey I'm a p
he I'm a piston actually this is better
