Transcripts
they bounced back they defeated the
Timberwolves as Bob Meyer said by 27
points it was supposed to be a
celebration in Target Center after all
right this fan base has been waiting for
20 years instead Nicola yic deal Murray
they each had 24 points maybe it was
Michael Malone's motivational tactics
that turned the
tides it was a two-minute edit of every
talking head in this country saying that
the series is over the nuggets are done
it's a wrap they're toast Minnesota's a
better team all the big personalities
and you know who they
are and not that they were wrong this is
not a shot of those people because after
the first two games probably would have
said the same thing everybody on their
brother is saying you're out you're done
you guys can't play with this team that
better than you if that doesn't resonate
within you as a competitor I don't know
what will that's on me I I'll take the
uh blame for this loss I came out with
no
energy at all I was I came out flat so
and I can't I can't afford to do that
for my team I let my team and my coaches
down the fans down we still got it um
they just made shots tonight they play
well man they're the defending champs we
didn't expect it to be easy um you know
so this what we wanted it's fun I do
love that from Anthony Edwards but I'm
going to go out on a limb and say maybe
our our guy over here made the the edit
that was shown around by the Denver
Nuggets it was not me start of the show
it was not me it was not me not Who Do
You Believe Me Your Lying Eyes as the
late great steuart Scott said what what
what had happened was I I mean I'm
watching this I couldn't believe what I
saw I got to stand down I owe the Denver
Nuggets the reigning defending NBA
champions damn it I don't apologize much
but I owe that I owe the Champions an
apology they are the champions for a
reason and they showed up and reminded
the world last night when Champions are
made of to be down 02 to be put on lock
and key in game two to come out in game
three as a starting five to hit 56% of
your shots from the field 53% from
three-point range while neutralizing the
great Anthony Edwards to just 19 points
on just 15 shots it wasn't just about
him not having energy it was about them
coming at him in a way that compromised
the level of energy that he was going to
bring to the table albeit for just one
game I have to stand up as people in my
position because we know Mike Malone was
talking about me we know he's talking
about me okay we understand that damn it
I deserve it the man is a champion he's
a great coach that's a great team joic
Jamal Murray especially after the noise
that he made this week stepped up showed
up Jamal Murray had 18 points in the
first half they showed up you in my
position Big Boy rules apply I have to
stand down and apologize still holding
the tover the Nugget you didn't toss
that broom I'm just say this the most
fun I've ever had on the show this is
the number one look Dam it save this
moment I have to apologize yo yo your
nuggets I'm sorry okay I'm sorry now
remember what Michael Malone himself
said after game two that they should be
embarrassed so this was a perfect tool
for him to use for him to be able to go
to Stephen A is one of many Stephen is
not the only one Michael Malone was
talking about at least I sort of hedg my
bets a little bit and said hold on now
these people are ch for reason but but
but Michael Malone used every tool at
his disposal and after game two he had
to feel he needed to use whatever was at
his disposal but more than one thing can
be true Anthony Edwards hit on something
because at the beginning of that game
you can see the Timberwolves they were
not playing with the same sort of energy
and frenzy and ruthlessness which with
they played games one and two and that's
up to them to now fix and they don't
have any new sound bites Stephen A do
that is that your way of saying that
maybe maybe they should be thanking me
oh come
on ask question is a replicable recipe
though with the Denver Nuggets figured
out it feels to me right that we're
heading into this game four and it has
these these Vibes of whoever takes game
four that that's the momentum of the
series yeah yes sure but before we get
to game four I just I'm just enjoying a
little bit of what happened in game
three uh you you don't just become
Champions you don't just doesn't happen
and champions usually don't go quiet
takes one to no one and I never played
but I've seen it up close but what
Denver showed us was don't write us off
yet we we they got the same starting
five that won a championship just a year
ago and they reminded us uh certainly
one of us that had had other ideas that
they're still Champions until somebody
takes that from them and Minnesota
Minnesota took a bucket of cold water
and threw it on Denver's face in two
games and Denver woke up they are awake
now Malika game four we'll see we'll see
if it carries over cuz Minnesota now you
just woke them up too they got blasted
at home and you got Anthony Edwards
their best player saying that's on me
and that's not going to happen again
game four I think will determine it this
is your day enjoy it so let me ask you
this question this is America's day this
is not just my so many people
enjoy let me let me come to my own
defense in this regard may I do so yes
years ago will in the 80s when the
Lakers rolled up to Boston Garden and
got blown out in an NBA Finals game by
40 Memorial Day okay we didn't write the
Lakers off we knew that was just one
game the difference between something
like that and what we saw in game two
against Minnesota was a Denver offense
that was put under lock and key we
didn't see joic looking like joic
shooting 42% from the field when we know
how efficient he normally is we didn't
see Jamal Murray able to get loose from
Defenders the way we normally are
accustomed to seeing him do that we
didn't see Michael Porter making shot
after shot and taking advantage because
he's a legit 610 cat that can step away
from the basket and do certain things
because we saw the size on the Minnesota
Timberwolves and their tenacity and
verocity defensively as will Bon alluded
to I picked Minnesota and I was thinking
sweet because I'm like I ain't never
seen yeah that kind of Defense imposed
against these guys what you going to do
if somebody Dro 50 and that's why you
lost oh please that's one game but to
see them defend way they did in game two
I don't know what Denver could do and
then Denver comes out it looks like a
completely different team in game three
you just got way ahead of yourself it's
okay it happens right well those three
days off all of a sudden Jamal Murray
looks healthy and Stephen A looks wrong
I'm wrong
