Transcripts
the last Corvette we found in this
garage had
1,599 Mi we told you the next car was
going to be more spectacular come look
is a 1978 25th Anniversary Corvette pace
car the other car had 1,599 Mi this has
293 I like the body on this car a lot
more than the other car actually this
big wing on here and the body flar is
beautiful I really want to check out the
interior I was told that this one's
basically rafted plastic which is nuts
let's see what it looks
like oh
man wow this thing smells basically like
a new car this is insane I can't believe
the plastic is still in here dude from
the from the factory what's crazy is
again this one has 293 Mi it's the pace
car it has the aesthetic and everything
there's one behind me that's even
crazier than this one I don't know how
we found these we struck gold finally
all right well there's nothing left to
do then uh pump these tires up remove
everything from underneath the car and
uh and roll it over to safely so we can
brush out all this debris so as we put
air in these tires this car has not
moved since 1986 which we'll touch on
that a little bit more later but a lot
of people on the last Corvette asked the
backstory on these and basically the
owner bought them as Investments brand
new and he put them in his garage hoping
that over time they would go up in value
and now he's deciding that he thinks he
might want to start selling them but
here's what I asked you guys in the last
video that I want to ask you again leave
a comment down below what do you think
that this car is worth again it's a 1978
pace car with only 293 original miles so
I would assume that the price would be a
little bit more than average but you
guys let me know your thoughts and
lastly we're trying to make the final
push to a million subscribers on the
last Corvette only 10% of people who
watched the video were subscribed which
means 90% of you watching are not
subscribed so if you enjoy these videos
and you want to see the final Corvette
of this Trilogy which is the craziest
maybe lowest mileage Corvette in the
entire world you don't want to miss that
video make sure you subscribe to the
Channel all right so we made it back
with the second Corvette and like I said
this one is even more special than the
last this is a 1978 pace car with again
293 Mi which is you know five times less
than the other 25th anniversary car that
we did but this one's even more special
being that it's a pace car it is a
limited edition car and it also has the
L82 performance package so we'll get
into that a little bit later but this
did have more horsepower than that base
model 25th anniversary and then you get
a couple nice little styling cues like
this little Chevy bow tie under the
driver and passenger locking cylinder
and then you get some nice ground
effects like this big front lip the
other one did have a front lip but
nowhere near as big and aggressive as
that one first thing I want to show you
guys which I didn't even realize this
car had this T-top is actually glass and
I didn't realize that until I got into
the car and helped RJ move it into the
trailer cuz it's completely covered I
couldn't see anything let me show you
guys inside real quick if you can see up
there you can see that is glass it's
just so dirty you can barely see through
it and then the back end the spoiler I
love it the other car had no spoiler on
it so C3 Corvettes I think the back end
looks just kind of odd without a spoiler
and I think this really ties the back
end together and makes it look real
tough real mean this Corvette came with
this cute little Corvette Beauty plate
the font of the Corvette actually
matches the Corvette font with the
badging on the Brier which I think is
kind of cool but before we wash it we're
going to go ahead and remove this vanity
plate that way we can make sure we clean
everything
underneath wao spider Condominiums over
here all right guys I'm going to go grab
lunch I'll be back in
[Music]
15 you guys see my
keys trailer truck where my car key
[Music]
where are you wait this video sponsors

photos of your key and a new key is cut

easily make it work with your car and if
you don't feel like doing it yourself
would you rather have an expert do it

keys in thousands of neighborhoods
across the United States just schedule

guaranteed the work and you can say save

like to call it stealership prices so if
you need a new car key like I do then
use our Link in the description and get
an extra 10% off thank you to car keys
Express for sponsoring this video now
it's time to get back to that Corvette
pace
car so I really love these red lines
along the wheels but these wheels are
absolutely filthy and that's where we're
going to get started we got to get these
wheels cleaned up first before we start
washing this car so just like the last
Corvette the way we're going to be
cleaning these wheels is a little bit
unorthodox so we're going to clean the
face on the ground and then when we put
it up on our scissor lift we're going to
be able to take them off to clean the
Treads and clean the inside of the
barrels as well as the wheel wells that
way we can get 100% of this car cleaned
and delivered back to the owner when
it's done
[Music]
[Music]
and now we're going to start pressure
washing the car by first using our
pre-rinse Puro which you can get at Puro
Car Care .c if you guys are interested
in an allpurpose cleaner that's safe on
your car but watch as we start to lay
this APC down you can see all those
years of dirt and dust start to lift off
and then when we start to pressure wash
it all way it's so satisfying to see the
actual paint come back
[Music]
[Music]
all
[Music]
now this is for the people who are new
to the channel if you're wondering why
we didn't start on the roof and we work
our way down it's because if we started
on the roof and we sprayed that first
all of these clips that you're seeing
now would have gotten ruined by the
water spraying it away and that would
basically get rid of the entire point of
this video pressure washing the car off
in the real world we would start on the
roof and spray it all from top to bottom
but because we do these shots one by one
that's just not how it works out for
what we do so I figured I'd explain it
to you if you've never heard me tell you
guys that before
[Music]
oh
[Music]
[Music]
and now we can finally see what those
beautiful glass tea Toops look like
underneath is dirt
and really quickly we're also going to
get the gas cap area cleaned out as well
[Music]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
on to the engine bay of this Corvette so
the last Corvette we had was a base car
with a 57 V8 that had 180 horsepower
this is the L82 V8 so it's the same size
but it has 220 horsepower an easy way to
tell these apart is when you open the
hood the la2 has two intake Vents and
the base car I think that's an L48 has a
single one but we're going to open this
up and see if anything made it in here
or if it's as clean as the other car
was H it's like new
still
wow hey it feared better the ascar uh
somebody made it in here though there's
a little bit of something in here there
I think it's a kernel of corn so let's
get that vacuumed out and back together
and then we'll get this engine bay
cleaned
[Music]
up before we start getting this engine
bay cleaning up I will have to mention
that we will not be putting any power to
this Corvette usually in some of our
older videos you would see we put Power
to them to try to start them up or play
with the lights or whatever open and
close a window but this is a rare car
with a very low mileage and the owner
does not want us to put any power to it
so sadly we won't be able to pop up the
headlights and clean those on this car
and we won't be able to get it running
for you on camera today sadly but we're
going to get this cleaned up and
hopefully they'll get fixed up and we'll
be able to see them running soon
[Music]
[Music]
I
I am
[Music]
while I drive this car I'm going to send
you guys over to our good buddy John
saos for a new segment of our show we
call saos Corner he's going to teach you
guys a little bit of history about the
space
car Johnny Sabo here owner of bullet
performance and your favorite Automotive
consultant I was brought in today
discuss the 1978 Corvette every year
they pick up domestic vehicle
exclusively to Pace the greatest
spectacle in racing which is the Indie
500 1978 was the first year that
Corvette was given that honor they made
a whole commemorative addition to it I
mean there there's a year where
Corvettes they had crazy paint themed
stickers this is the first time they did
that they made a special paint theme
black over silver red pinstriped silver
interior with a kind of an oyster effect
there was an arrow package of a rear
spoiler and a front air dam along with a
commemorative decal package if you
really wanted to play pace car jump on
the highway jump in front of your
buddies and lead them lead them to your
favorite Bor or event let's go back then
you saw these cars you didn't see
Lamborghinis and Ferraris on every
corner if you saw a pace car come up
everybody knew what it was it was
instantly recognizable back then the
price for this option was $4,300 which
$4,300 1978 is a lot of money $4,300 now
is like stitching in a Porsche so I mean
it
it's so I mean it it doesn't go a long
way anymore the average Corvette was
about $910,000
MSRP this commemorative pace car package
added $4,300 and we're talking about
over 40% upcharge for a pace car Livery
that's crazy thank you guys for letting
me ramble on the 78 pace car I really
enjoyed it if you guys need any
consultation um you can reach me on
Instagram at # Johnny Sabo that's j n n
y AO now let's get back to these guys
taking that pace car from a zero to a
hero now moving on to the interior of
this Corvette one thing that you cannot
ignore is this bright silver everywhere
just how that other Corvette had red
interior I think this is the only car
I've ever seen like to have a true
silver finish not gray that's quite
interesting but this thing is so low
mileage he left the plastic on the SE
seats to it this is original from GM so
we're going to have to remove all this
to clean them up but we're going to save
this for the owner they want us to keep
all that kind of stuff these seats are
in such incredible condition I've seen
low mileage Corvettes for sale but they
always have wear in the seats and if you
actually pan down check this out Brent
look at this this is perfect just a
little bit of scuffs from the rodents
that were're in here but this is in such
good shape you never see something like
this and you can see the placard here in
the middle that displays is the 25th
Anniversary Corvette limited edition
what the owner had told us was that this
car he bought it used actually with only
100 Mil on it he kept it in his garage
and he let his I think it's niece or
nephew not too sure take it to
homecoming in in 1986 and there's a
little placard from the homecoming car
show from there which is pretty neat
we're pretty sure that this is the last
time this was driven he said after they
brought it home from this event that he
just parked in the garage and never
drove it again before we get into the
cleaning of this Corvette I just want to
see if we find any goodies in the glove
box so let's
see dang why is the glove box set up
different than the other car this
doesn't have like an eight track player
or something to the YouTube peoples what
is this I have no idea it looks like it
could either hold cassettes or like
eight tracks but this doesn't have that
feature unless it has it in the trunk
somewhere or something so if you know
why this Corvette has this cuz the other
one did not and it's the same year what
does this hold now with the seats out we
can see what's in this boxy box Mike's
going to dig through that but what I
noticed immediately after he moved the
box was there's this little handle that
uh was just sitting back here and uh I
know exactly where this goes because I
knew where it went on the other Corvette
and unfortunately it goes to the luggage
what would you call it the luggage Hider
or the thing that pulls out that hides
the luggage what how did that come off I
have no idea but it's off and uh I don't
even know it looks like it's like
screwed in something like like yeah so
we're going to have to reattach this
hopefully we can find bolts that fit and
then this goes around this what's this o
here's a little black screw okay that
looks like a possible candidate you're
right you're totally right all right we
found one out of two screws we got to
hunt for that other one let's see if we
come we're on an unboxing Channel now
look at that what okay I didn't expect
this so this is the original cover that
comes when you buy the Corvette new W
okay that's pretty I've never seen
something like that
decals I think this must be this these
might be the decals that go with the
pace cars but all the pace cars usually
come with big decals on the side of them
and I believe Chevy either installs them
from the factory or you can choose to
have them not installed and they just
give them to you that must be what this
is yes so these are the original
stickers that were never installed on
the car wow that's pretty cool official
62nd annual Indianapolis 500 mile race
wow yep so that's pretty sweet I was
wondering where these were on the car
cuz every time I looked up any of the
pace cars they always had these decals
so it was up to your discretion if you
wanted to install them or not I had to
take a picture of this y all right now
if this isn't the most classic car owner
thing that I've ever seen an
antique an antique auto is like another
man's wife look and admire but do not
touch and here is actually the guide to
install all of these as well these been
just sitting here oh that's cool so what
is so that's the oh cool and then it
even says The Limited addition that was
I think uh assembled at the plant so
they just put that on there there can
you imagine how many people didn't have
the dealer do it or the Manu and then
it's just
like I don't know if any of you ever
installed large decals on cars but
they're very easy to mess up flipping
hard man so now we're going to check
under door number one two and three
one's a batter air compartment one is
like a storage spot and then one houses
more storage and the Jack put my handy
dandy mask on CU everyone yells at me
when I don't put it on and we're going
to look under door number
oh rats literal rats you know what we're
missing out of this car that I just
realized we don't have the sheets for
the um t-tops and we really really
really want to find the T-top sheets
here let's pray and hope oh that's what
I'm talking about baby that's a complete
car and another Nest that was to be
expected all right we'll throw that out
real quick and we'll get to vacuuming
now while we're vacuuming I want you
guys to try to take a guess what all the
brown staining in the carpet is we'll
tell you a little bit later before we
extract it all
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
now here's the best way I've found to
clean all three of these back
compartments first we're going to remove
everything from them and vacuum them
completely then we're going to use our
Puro with a drill brush to really work
it into the compartment and because they
have drain plugs we're going to use our
extractor and spray it all down and then
suck out as much water as we can and
then we're going to go back afterward
with an extractor soap spray that in and
do the same exact thing again which is
going to help rid it of any scent that
the mice left over and lastly we're
going to use a Ceramic spray sealant as
a protectant with a microfiber towel to
get it all nice and dry maybe this is a
little bit Overkill but we like to be
super thorough and they turned out
really nice and they smelled good
afterwards when mice were definitely
living in there
[Music]
so we actually worked next to an
exterminator SL Pest Control business
and one of the guys that works over
there came over to look at the Corvette
and then he let us know that these are
actually Mouse Trails apparently mice's
skin is very oily and greasy and so you
can actually see where their bodies run
in these lines cuz they take the same
path over and over and over again so
that's why you're getting this Browning
you can actually see where they run all
the way back and it looks like in this
case run across and then go up and back
there we can see that piece of uh carpet
that's falling off the speaker Grill
yeah it's cool I had no idea I've worked
on Plenty of cars and I never knew what
those lines were but you learn something
new every day
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
and now we're going to clean out the
carpets all we're going to use is Puro
with a drill brush and then hot water in
the extractor and it's going to
significantly improve the look of this
carpet unfortunately it doesn't come out
100% I would say about 98% but that's
about what you have to accept when
things sit in the carpet staining it
over the course of 45 years
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
I
[Music]
[Music]
do
[Music]
between this seat and the last seat
there's a lot of key differences one it
has this sweet little carpeted piece on
the back and I wonder if it's velcro no
it's gluon that's completely different
and the whole entire styling of the seat
is different as well don't they have the
headrest on the other one this one is a
lot more flat it's actually bigger
bolsters that would suck in uh it's more
of a bucket seat whereas the other ones
were kind of just more of like a a
touring seat I guess one thing I had
noticed on the last Corvette that I
noticed on this one as well is that
these seats are identical twins even to
the side that the uh seat adjuster is on
apparently GM decided that it's easier
to make one seat and put it on both
sides of the car and save money than
having to develop two you know
completely different seats like
manufacturers do today but again for for
anyone that's doubting the actual
mileage of this car oh wow so you can't
even see the foam underneath completely
different Design This is like a plastic
frame I've never seen that I mean yeah
it's it looks it's brand new it's the
cushions are all or the the foam is
still super super soft but even the
spring like has no rust everything about
these are just pristine perfect it's a
time capsule
[Music]
[Music]
I I
[Music]
and while we have our handy table out
we're going to go ahead and clean this
insert from the back of the car and the
floor mats so we don't have to bend over
and hurt our backs
[Music]
[Music]
h
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
w
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
and now we're going to raise the
Corvette up on our scissor lift so we
can take the wheels off and clean the
tread and the inside of the barrels and
as you'll notice the tread is still
super dirty so that's why we did this
[Music]
[Music]
w
[Music]
[Music]
he
[Music]
and of course we can't forget about the
oxidized and Rusty luug nuts which we
can polish right
[Music]
up all right Mike here here I wanted to
check out the bottom of this Corvette
before we get it all cleaned up and it's
in better shape than the last one that's
for sure it seems to have less rust than
the last car I'm not sure if that's
because of the position of this car in
the garage or what exactly but you can
see the various tags still in place from
the factory it's just in incredible
shape it looks seriously brand new it
looks like someone put that on yesterday
that's pretty incredible for being from
1978 this thing is going to look pretty
prim and proper once we're done cleaning
it up and that's not a job for me that's
a job for someone else who could it
be ooh dude that's a that's a fine fine
get up you got going great My Fit I
added a couple things like the minute
work safety safety jacket you're looking
good I I'll give you I'll give you about
an 82 on this one 82 out of 10 82 we'll
see I'll raise the score if you don't
get wet in your nether
regions well going to fail all right
let's see how RJ handles this

and you guys should be really proud of
us cuz if you watch the first Corvette
youd know that we couldn't get the spare
wheel down but on this one we figured it
out so we could get it Down clean the
wheel clean inside of there and put it
back
[Music]
all right RJ let's see how you fared all
right so if anyone hasn't seen the last
Corvette vid I got really wet in the two
places you don't want to get wet and
this
time nice look at that dry the bone that
suit did its job and now we're going to
clean the wheel wells put the tires back
on and then throw Tire dressing on them
to really make them
[Music]
pop and the last thing we're going to do
before we put the car back on the ground
is the tailpipe so we're going to use
some metal polish with some steel wool
and rust remover and it's not going to
make it look brand new but it's going to
make it look a lot better than if we
left the rust on
[Music]
there so the Corvette is on the lift
it's all washed and decontaminated and
I'm going to take a look at the paint to
see what I'm working with and first
impression is yikes this thing is
littered with scratch is probably from
the critters that were running all over
it while I was in the garage like right
here looks like something fell over the
pillar and dragged its nails down the
the pillar right here but I'm going to
have to be kind of aggressive with my
polishing in order to flatten out this
lacquer and remove those scratches so
I'll start with a DA and a wool pad to
remove those scratches and then I'll
finish up with a light polish and a foam
pad to just bring back the shine and
luster and uh make this Corvette look as
like new as possible w
[Music]
[Music]
and finally finishing up this detail
making the car look as new as possible
we cleaned all the windows and then the
vanity plate and put that back on and
this car was good to go if you guys
enjoyed the video make sure you like And
subscribe because you definitely don't
want to miss the last Corvette of this
Trilogy it's probably the craziest one
in the entire world

all right so we just took the truck back
we just finished the pace car that's
coming back on Monday and we're about to
pick up the lowest mileage car that
we've ever found and probably will ever
find in the history of this channel so
the truck mileage was five digits at
177,000 the white Corvette
was a four-digit mileage car at
1,599 the pace car that's coming back
was a three-digit car at 293 and this
Corvette is a
1982 with only two digits on the
odometer and it might start with a nine
or it might start with a five or maybe
lower than that so if you want to see
one of the lowest mileage Corvettes in
the world guaranteed subscribe you guys
aren't going to want to miss this one
