McLaren but let's be real you don't kid
there's been 256 McLaren Builds on
YouTube and we're going to get into the
McLaren build later I wanted to talk
about the wealthy people from the
Caucasus mountain region for a second
and how I got to know them because
usually I'm not in their circles but now
I am when you own a McLaren A Whole New
World opens up that no one talks about
everyone's like yeah yeah I own a
superar but as a YouTuber I was super
late to the Supercar game like I just
got my first one and a lot of these
YouTubers have had supercars for seven 8
years now so I have some pretty cool
cars I have a Hellcat and a Porsche 9911
turbos s which are currently in storage
in this really cool storage facility uh
called garage 42 near me it's like a car
vault Jerry Seinfeld style storage but
I'll tell you more about it in the next
episode but living in the Northeast
especially when I'm passing through uh a
suburban area I get a lot of looks
because yes I'm very handsome and
they're also looking at me trying to
figure out if I'm one of the good ones
one of the bad ones if you know what I
mean so if I'm in the Porsche oh he's a
good one if I'm in the Hellcat it's like
well well well so spoiler alert I
finished the McLaren 720 and I decided
to do what no other YouTuber has done uh
as after fixing a car I decided to
actually drive it getting it registered
getting it insured driving it no temp
tags no dealer plate stuff I actually
committed to my creation and I got it on
the road legally driving it for more
than 30 seconds in a video it's the
first time it's ever been done
apparently but now that I own a 720
magically a whole bunch of uh doors
started opening up I started getting
invited to events uh like rallies and
I'll tell you what a rally really is
okay I decided to take my 720 on a rally
to put it through the test and uh
rallies for the most part it's driving
hundreds if not thousands of miles on
track days curvy mountain passes going
between states running over potholes
rallies beat your car to death and
there's some instances where you're
sustaining speeds of slightly over the
speed limit for hours at a time and most
Supercar owners they just kind of take
them wash them put them back in the
garage but these rallies are for people
that actually want to drive so I respect
the heck out of it but these rallies are
where I met the rich men and women of
the Caucasus mountain region now I
thought that they just did stuff like go
to Gallas dress up look pretty go to
fundraisers buy a model 3 Performance
for
$65,000 talk about what illegals are
doing to this once great nation and they
still do those things but that's not all
they do here's some info as an Insider
now that I've gone to the rallies
reserved for them I can tell you what
it's like on the inside I didn't know
this but basically you pay a lot of
money ranging from uh $5 to $8,000 on
the low end 15 to 25k on the medium end
and like 75 to 100 on the highend then
you slather your car and stickers from
sponsors and you drive around together
reminding the people on the road who are
going to their 9 to-5 jobs that they're
still poor because who's out driving a
superar on a Tuesday afternoon then you
stay in these nice hotels and it's
exactly like Eyes Wide Shut that's what

lights go off may I have the password

year in about January or so I bought a
McLaren 720s because I thought I needed
to be like all the other YouTubers and
buy a superar and fast forward to today
let me tell you these cars are
incredibly finicky and I completely
understand why they take so long to
build finding parts has been a mixed bag
of emotions most of the parts you can
find online like eBay but the others you
have to get from McLaren in the UK and
have them shipped to the US then of
course your standard vehicle code reader
doesn't work with McLaren you have to go
out and buy these special tools like
diag code in order to talk to the
McLaren and run things like the air BR
calibration and transmission adaptations
etc etc well today in this episode I'm
going to finally finish the car its
entire but the difference is I'm not
just going to assemble it do a couple
pulls and say it's yay it's done please
clap for me I'm going to finish it and
proceed to drive it matter of fact I'm
actually on the road right now recording
this get a new one of these obviously so
that kind of stinks the tail lights
there though which is good there needs
to be some wiring harness
repair yeah if this shifted a little bit
in you're going to have to replace the
frame which is uh
actually not like it's it's not
expensive okay we have to take
everything out of of the back is anyone
else getting a negative vibe from this
place or is just me it's not good that
you're
here we should get the F out
okay so I should probably start working
on this thing right now supposedly
allegedly this very obvious markings
underneath the car to see where you
should jack it up and where are they oh
there's one there and there's the other
one McLaren made my life that much
easier and what the people that don't
own these cars will tell you they'll say
they're unreliable and they'll say the
jack points are easy to find because the
cars are always on jack stands cuz it's
always broken honestly right here this
made my life that much easier because
the front axle lift was stuck in the up
position cuz if it was any lower in the
front I wouldn't have made it and this
is the most expensive car that's ever
been on this lift so I really really
hope I don't screw this up so judging by
the look underneath the car it actually
doesn't look too bad at all all of the
front suspension components are intact
and uh both left and right of these air
channels that bring air into the front
pads and rotors they look good too uh
the underbody air channels are still
there as well all the Hardware holding
those on are still intact it looks
pretty good there's no cracks in the
carbon tub and it looks like there are
two pieces of Hardware missing from here
but uh these I think go all the way to
the side so I'm going to go ahead and
assume that there was a plastic or metal
undertray here which is no longer here I
don't know if they stole it I don't know
if it got flew off in the accident or
something but uh again this is not bad
see I love the way this looks and if I
could drive the car just like this I
would do it every day all right so
today's the day I decided I have to take
the McLaren 720 home with me there's a
lot of things going on at the shop right
now a lot of projects a lot of dust and
debris and just general dings and dents
are happening to the McLaren so I want
to bring it to a little bit of a safer
space there's Haze all over it when
there's grinding and cutting uh there's
things going to the paint so it's not
really an ideal environment to have a
car like this

okay now that this side piece is off it
looks like an alien spaceship however I
will say it's not as uh complex looking
as Freddy's but it still looks very cool
naked what I want to do now is I want to
remove this wing and I want to get
access to the exhaust because you know
it's one of those things where you work
on a car it's like now that you're here
you might as well do the rest of it I'm
going to take the wing off take the heel
tree off look at the exhaust one of the
tips is bent granted yes I could very
simply just buy a new tip but I
definitely want to dig in and see what
else is going on with the car

here is the uh new rear crash bar that's
replacing the old broken one I don't
want to get into how much this crash bar
costs but is literally a thin piece of
aluminum but because it has a McLaren
part number on it it's ridiculously
expensive expensive now on this side
these two tabs were broken
off you know for these rare frame rails
uh this fits right here perfectly and uh
Joey went ahead and knocked the other
one off because this wasn't sitting
perfectly flush so he got it off uh and
we're straightening it with the vice
right now so what we're going to do
we're going to put these on right here
and do some aluminum welding so this is
nice and flat just like that side is
I think I want to replace this it looks
like it's in pretty decentish shape but
you can't really be too sure especially
when it comes to this area right here a
little bit too much of this has scraped
off for me to really feel comfortable
using this so I bought another one uh on
eBay and I was actually surprised they
had one so I'll be pulling this one off
and uh replacing it with the uh with the
new McLaren caliper

brake line is in uh the brake pad wear
sensor is also in as well uh the good
thing about this caliper is actually a
lot less Sun faded than that one was
that one's more of like a a brightish
orange color this is more of a dark
orange but everything's ready to
go now I know you've seen this a million
times but once again I am attempting to
get a dead car off of a trailer into my
garage so no need for a big narration
sequence here but it needs a new roof
glass it needs a new windshield it's Mis
frying like crazy the axle is broken and
the car won't go into drive which I will
be fixing all of that at my house but
while I'm fixing the car I dropped off
all the pieces to get painted at my
friend Dan from Dan's Auto Body and
because I can't leave well enough alone
in the meantime while he's painting the
pieces I'll be installing new down pipes
because well my stock down pipes no
longer suit my needs

there it is folks that is the
downpipe that's nice and
pretty oh shoot that is the old McLaren
720s downpipe and here is the new Sleek
one I'll tell you the old one is
significantly heavier than the new one
uh the old one has the catalytic
converter down here which is actually
pretty sizable and uh there is a very
small catalytic converter in here uh
it's somewhere a little bit more
Upstream I think the cat is somewhere
around here you have to make sure you
have emission control devices on all of
your vehicles don't go catless because
of the smell and it's bad for the
environment so there is a cat uh
somewhere down
there it's already in there that was so
much
easier that's kind of
odd it is a whole
Nest uh yeah we got a chunk stuck there
it goes there's a chunk yeah so there's
there's some some things occurring this
some contamination in the brake system
look at that gradient look at that it's
like it's like a sunset old and bottom
at the 2 O Mark that's the old stuff
everything from Two and up is a new
stuff the inlets are probably one of the
more controversial things on of McLaren
because pieces of it breaking and
potentially lodging itself in the
turbocharger which would be bad so I
don't think these are that bad
personally the cars have many miles on
it oh
oh so these are the comparison of the
various uh inlets for the turbochargers
this one's probably ABS plastic and this
one is a full silicone design and
there's nothing on the inside that's
going to break off crumble and destroy
the turbocharger

okay so in case I didn't mention this
before I got this really neat titanium
exhaust off of eBay this thing weighs
absolutely nothing at all uh I don't
know what brand it is there's no brand
on it so it's probably chinesium but at
the end of the day if you didn't know
this pretty much all the McLaren 720
exhausts are pretty much the same either
the come straight out I think uh Soul
has a a version of that uh there's a
whole bunch of different options uh some
have muffers in it but this is the best
one to use if you really want that
enhanced sound again there's no brand on
it so I have no idea what this is uh the
welds look pretty good and if they crack
after a while who cares because this is
so cheap you can get these exhausts
ranging from 4 grand to like $8,000 and
this one was literally I think it was
like under 1,000 bucks so really can't
go wrong and they all essentially sound
the same um it even came with these flex
pipes which is good I'm going to put
these on and clamp this exhaust in but
it really is a pretty piece of

art all right glass is out this is in
incredible so you can see here this is
the rain sensor M we'll be transferring
this to the new windshield okay and then
get the other new windshield prepped
now okay so this is the new windshield
so do you just put it face down right on
the ground is that how that works yeah
usually yeah okay
so on this side of the car one of the
threads got messed up uh for the shock
while installing the accumulators so I'm
going to go ahead and take care of this
right now it looks like uh that time CT
that's in there got a little messed up
uh when we were pushing this back up we
couldn't really quite get the nut back
in and when we started putting it in it
started stripping itself automatically
I'm actually going to remove the rest of
that that coil that's what
holds the bolt in place and I'm going to
pull that out just like this just like
that pull those coils
out all right it's coming out I'm going
to do that one more
time that's in there pretty good all
right I got that out and now that I'm
going to clean that hole up a little bit
and then I'm going to put a new Time s
in I'm just using the tap uh to make new
threads on this
before I put the insert into it so put
the new insert in and you just screw it
right
in and then that's what makes the new
threads on the
inside last but not
least let's check it
out now it's tightening just
fine awesome
okay boys and girls I'm sure you
remember how rough the car was running
it had very severe idling issues it
would shut off for a couple minutes and
then turn back on again the car wouldn't
stay consistently running and remember
according to the scan tool it had
misfires and pretty much every cylinder
in the engine so what I just ordered
from mcmed is I actually got uh the
spark plugs and I got the coil pack
replacement kit so I'm replacing all
eight coils and all eight spark plugs to
see that makes a difference when it
comes to the eyland the quarters in here
to do the spark plugs are not ideal you
have that giant intercooler in the way
you have the frame rail in the way and
then you have a miscellaneous assorted
other uh electronics back here so I have
that one in let's see it's one down
seven more to go and uh if you look back
here that one's just
hidden back there so these are kind of a
pain to get access to Big Time okay so I
loosened up these two bolts here and
here as you can see I shifted over an
inch and a half on both sides and I also
loosened up the throttle body tube so
now what I can do is I could actually
lift this up you might be thinking to
yourself rich why not just remove the
entire intercooler and I can't do that
cuz this is a a to water intercooler uh
there's coolant lines going to it and I
don't want to disconnect those and have
to repressurize the system or refill the
system and have to get into you know
getting out air bubbles so I decided
just to do that loosen up these brackets
on both sides and if you look I can
actually raise this high enough now once
I raise this high enough I can get my
hand in there and disconnect those two
connectors right there if you can see
them hold on put down and then start

guys it's running a lot better now I
know you probably can't tell from home
but the idle's a lot more smooth a lot
more
smooth okay everything was good up to
this moment looks like I'm changing an
axle seal
now okay
there you
go
okay that's a 720s
axle okay I have that popped out
now any guesses why it wasn't sealing
properly I got a few uh so right now
what I want to do first is I want to do
a uh a clutch fluid change and as you
could see here they conveniently put uh
the clutch fluid filter in front of that
sway bar so I have to unbolt the sway
bar let it hang down in order to get uh
to that filter and the two drains for
the clutch are here I have a drain on
the clutch for that side and a secondary
drain on that
side it's coming is it coming there you
go it's
clear it's really
clear like this was just done almost and
it's going to overflow so that's the old
o-ring that was on the there and I'm
putting a new one on uh along with this
filter so shout out to uh to Kevin from
the mctic screw for getting these to me
so quickly I really appreciate you doing
that cuz uh these from mlar be a small
fortune so thanks again man all right
back to the Wonder World of McLaren
maintenance uh if you had any idea how
much these uh pentosin dual clutch fluid
things cost they're probably damn near
50 bucks a piece and I need seven of
them to fill this thing up so I have my
tube in here I'm just going to use the
uh uh this filler pump to do it cuz
there's no real other easy way to get in
there I try to go from the top but the
exhaust components are blocking it so
I'm just going to go ahead and start
pumping
away there you
go pump pump
pump okay so now in order to bleed the
clutch fluid system I could actually go
into this air brake test because the
clutch fluid is the same fluid that's
used in the air brake so once the air
brake is cycled it'll help bleed and get
rid of L of the air in the clutch system
which is a really cool feature that uh
this diet code software and mcclaren's
have in general so I'm going to start
that process right now I think it should
actuate the wing mounts and after it
does that the clutch should be all set
it gives you basic measurements of How
High each side is once I know that
they're even and they're noted then that
clutch system is all set go the a brake
bleed and start procedure

I just want to show you guys how much of
a pain this is I brought the front
bumper up stairs to do this uh in the
living room and if you look carefully
this is like very precise origami that
you have to do so this first piece goes
in there and that finishes the front
duct uh for the headlight then you have
to have this creative piece that kind of
goes in on top of that why they didn't
design this as a single piece I guess I
really have no idea but that goes in
there like
that right and then you think you're
done you're not done yet you also have
the the side piece that goes in here and
after that you have the turn signal so
after this goes together that's bolted
in the turn signal goes in there uh then
you have the front bumper sensor wire so
this is actually pretty a complex piece
and now I understand why they get
wrecked so easily the second you crack
all this stuff up this is at least uh a
couple, worth of things right here so
the second that this crack which is very
easy to break I mean you're looking at a
small fortune to fix
this okay now we're going to go through
the process of making sure everything
works uh both fenders are on that took
forever the front bumper is officially
on uh the headlights are fitted in uh
let me turn this thing
on and
see what I could do let's do hazards
first oh ow
those side side indicators
work hazards
work see that side indicator
Works back lights are also
working I think we're good to go

here Here Comes the awkward part of the
build trying to figure out how I'm going
to recoup a lot of my cost because once
you build a car like this the parts that
are left over you just don't throw them
into the trash they're actually worth a
very small fortune so once I factor in
how much I paid out on the car and the
additional Parts I need to assemble it
uh there's some duplicates and
triplicate parts that I may not have
necessarily needed but I purchase just
in case so a lot of these parts here uh
like that Fender you can see um I have
to box it up and I have to ship it out
to people because they actually still
want to buy this like this is actually
still worth money even though that has a
sharp crease in it people still want to
take these parts cut them up turn them
into an actual usable part because again
the parts are worth so much money so
what I'm going to do is I'm going to
package this up and I'm going to send
all the extra things I need uh like the
gear oil to ship out using ship station
cuz it's a fastest easiest and most
affordable way to manage and ship your
orders just in a few clicks uh your
print out professional uh you know
discounted labels and getting your

John okay so today electrified garage
we're not going to talk about this uh
convertible Tesla we're not going to
talk about that today right Chad we're
going to ignore this car we're not going
to get into this I wish I could yeah
there's a there's a lot going on in this
car uh there's a reason why you never
really see uh convertible Teslas up
close and personal uh there's a lot
going on with this this was custommade
made uh that's a self Tapper on that
side and there's a lot going on in the
trunk uh customer States the uh the GPS
is not working and uh I think there's a
lot of reasons as to why a lot of wires
just kind of go nowhere a lot of butt
connectors but the good news is there is
a matching self Tapper on this side
anyways most important thing we're here
for is the McLaren and in mcclaren's
Infinite Wisdom
99.9% of cars uh the ac lines so you can
actually recharge the AC is usually
underneath the trunk is that correct
Chad the the frontal area yeah the
frontal area frontal area McLaren said
said you know what that's stupid let's
put it in front of the rear tire so you
have to remove the tire remove the
fender liner just to get access to the
nozzles which is very deep within the
car's underbelly so thank you again
McLaren thank you very

places vacuum Okay cool so far so good
we're holding holding vacuum
good okay now it's uh 11:00 at night and
I thought I was done doing this but no I
am not finished with this yet remember
this is the last and final piece to the
entire equation unfortunately uh this is
double-sided taped on and I have to glue
these stupid panels on why McLaren
decided to do this instead of just
having literally any other solution but
this uh but so I'm been sitting here for
about 30 minutes or so getting all the
excess glue off and then I have to uh
clean it up rubbing alcohol and then put
some more double sided tape on thank you
again McLaren all right here we have it
McLaren 720 on top of the trailer the
rivan pulling everything and I'm kind of
annoyed that these cars aren't the same
color I really wish they were the same
color but they're a little bit off uh
the brakes almost match the brakes in
the McLaren are orange and the brakes in
the rivan are a bright yellow but if
they matched I'd be a lot happier about
it but not a big deal uh okay well the a
goal is to try to get the engine uh on
top of the axles themselves for weight
distribution purposes and it's actually
pulling really really well and yes I
know the car is just about 50/50 but uh
there's no sag on the truck and uh
things are looking pretty good so far
everything's tied down car is looking
good uh no sag on the truck even though
yes I know it has uh airbags in the rear
to keep it level but it's uh pretty dang
level at this point before I hit this
long road trip I have to go to McLaren
Boston to get the suspension bled but
after I did that the first day we went
to New York which was about 240 miles
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania which was
another 400 miles then Pittsburgh the
cat skills cat skills to Manhattan
Manhattan back to Pennsylvania and then
Pennsylvania back home which was an
additional 500 miles so all in all it
was over 2,000 miles of driving in a few
days and the car did extremely well I
hung out with the rich whites we went to
the city ate great food had a really
good time enjoyed it so much I'm
actually doing another long trip from
Vermont to Tennessee so by summer I
would have put an additional 5,000 miles
on this car which doesn't sound like
much but for a super car that's a
lifetime for most of them so that's why
I haven't really been putting out too
many videos because I've been actually
on the road driving it's a very rare
scenario where I get to actually enjoy
the fruits of my labor so I'm taking
some time and I'm just enjoying the car
so the car did really great uh minus the
seat occupancy sensor that failed on the
way and sometimes the car doesn't see
the key but now I'm on the road I'm
going to give the car a quick review no
it's it it's an amazing machine it
handles well it drives well the braking
is insane uh the way the air brake goes
up when you panic stop is insane I've
always loved cars that have air brakes
the uh the 911 had one has one uh the
RS7 had one when I had that and I just
love the way it looks when it goes up
but overall it's a surprisingly
compliant car like on flat smooth roads
it does really well on bumpy roads it
doesn't exactly love it uh but
considering the car is lowered it's
doing a great job uh the accumulators
have been replaced all the suspension
components have been serviced it's just
a great great driving car uh I feel bad
because I'm on this rally right now and
the entire front end of the car is just
speckled with uh with with paint with uh
with brake dust with rock chips from
other cars and uh this this is the
ultimate test for this car going on a
rally through places like New York and
Philadelphia it has the worst roads in
the nation and this car is taking it
like a champ you know uh a couple little
issues here and there uh going over a
lot of heavy consecutive bumps I get a
suspension light saying it's not through
with me but after that goes away uh
after the bumps go away the light goes
away but other than that couple little
McLaren glitches sometimes I can't find
the key uh but I read up on that and I I
saw that that's completely normal I
probably have to replace the key battery
uh but again no shortage of power on
this car whatsoever I I I'm just amazed
that you know how good this car feels
you know at full song this car will do
you know 200 plus miles hour without
even breaking a sweat without even
thinking about it I've had it at speeds
that are close to that I won't say the
exact speeds but the thing it just feels
great the way have people react to it
are great sorry the way people react to
it are great uh the way it looks is
great uh everyone com up to be tells you
how much I love the color I just um
overall I couldn't be any more filled
with it but I'll say one thing I don't
think I will be getting rid of the
Porsche anytime soon uh the Porsche is a
much more livable car uh the McLaren
you're constantly scared of something
breaking or going wrong with it because
it's literally so expensive uh to fix to
repair to service everything's expensive
on this thing so uh the Porsche is
definitely a lot better for daily driver
Porsche you can take out to a nice
dinner uh you could sit down and you
know have a good time in like a nice
upscale car but the second the McLaren's
around it's just this big it just
commands attention everyone's taking
photos the cell phone cameras come out
um but yeah I think this is great
considering I was I was contemplating
bringing the TRX on this rally
uh I don't think that would have went
too well at all the TRX don't get me
wrong it's a big powerful truck but it's
not a sports car it can't stop like
these cars do it can't accelerate like
these cars do no matter how many mods
you do to them but overall I'm glad I
brought the McLaren it's an awesome car
and I'm just glad to finally drive it
for the first time I know you might say
to yourself hey Rich why do you have so
many panel gaps on McLaren you built
yourself but I want to let you know that
all McLarens are like that every single
Claren is like this this is no
exaggeration there's that there too none
of the panels line up it's just it's a
right of passage look at my door my door
isn't fully shut but you could see that
Gap there and what do you know actually
mine looks a little bit better I think M
looks a little bit better but this is
how McLarens are they're not exactly the
most well put together cars but man when
you put that hammer down it makes up for
it
again
